Nice link Dylan but..

"Jagielka, 24, played a number of positions for his club last season but was used by England as a right-back and that is where Moyes sees him next season."

err... Hibbo?????

Err, Hibbo is a great defender but by no means a complete right-back. Jagielka provides more than that.

This is a signing I would like to see happen.

cars, neville, cahill will all pick up bookings next season, and the masterplan could be nevs to LB leaving hibbo and jags to battle for the RB slot.

but is RB a place we NEED to strengthen?

I agree, squad competition is always great, but surely our left side is weak (putting it nicely!) and needs more attention than the right.

Both positions need replacing.

To be a Euro challenging team, we need RB/LB who are gonna provide the overlap and put in a decent cross to the far post, rather than the second tier (Hibbo, looking at you)

ouch, hibbo taking some flack.. thought he was one of more rated players, his lack of attacking ability finally caught up with him then.

Don't get me wrong, defensively he is still one of the best talents we have, but that is only half of the game. It wasn't too long ago that was all a full-back needed to be, but with the game evolved, he either needs to learn to put in a decent ball more often than accidentally or make way for someone who can do both jobs.

Haven't you noticed his opportunities when fit have been limited because Pip offers more. He has only been in the team when there was a hole in midfield that need filling by Pip.

i feel sorry for hibbo, he is possibly the best tackler in the squad, its a shame it is counter balanced by him being possibly the worst distributor in the squad.

Hibbos been a great servant, but its time to start the upgrades.

I agree with that, I would go as far as to suggest that Hibbo might be better moving on as I still have nightmares when he set Utd up for their equaliser because yet again he didn't have a bloody clue what he was doing.

You might be spot on monty, but as I avoided watching the "highlights" of that match I never saw hibbo's slip up.

Realisticly though the sqaud needs compition depth and cover. Weve three left sided full backs in Nace, Valente and Neville with Lescott able to cover too. While just hibbo at right back and Neville to cover. Ive nothing against having a bigger squad and players fighting for places.

Perhaps Hibbo has had it to easy for to long in terms of compitition. I mean you think hed take the ball out on the trainig gorund and work on his dstribution and crossing.

Something that worries me is that Jags is seen as a utility man. Although admittedly the advantage to this means that the manger can chop and change formations based on injuries suspension and rotation. I just often think that having that tag means that a young player isnt allowed to develop in a praticualr poisition and specialise in developing there all around game in that role.

Phil Neville is a priime example, a steady player in an awfull lot of positions but because he is seen as a "utility man" he never developed a specialised position and as such i think his quality and potentila and in many ways his career suffered. He is a staedy player but not a top quality player when you think of the players he graduated with from the Man U youth team. I remember when he broke through a year after his brother Gary, Fergie saying that the younger was the better player of the two. If you look at it now you have to say that gary became the more distingusied, higher profile and established when you look at caps and medals.

Dont get me wrong i think hes an important member of the squad but i just worry when players come in with the utility tag, I just think they never fully develop the way they should. Do we really need two in our squad?

You all know who id prefer to sign!

Everton hope to seal a £4m move for Sheffield United's Phil Jagielka as the utility man prepares to tell new Blades boss Bryan Robson he wants to leave.

The 24-year-old is believed to have a release clause in his contract and BBC Sport understands Everton will meet the valuation that will trigger a deal.

Jagielka was released by Everton as a youngster but is ready to choose them ahead of Newcastle and Aston Villa.

He impressed as a substitute for England B against Albania on Friday.

The Blades are hoping to hold on to their prize asset but interest from Premiership clubs, coupled with their relegation and Jagielka's own desire to further his England ambitions, means they are fighting a losing battle.

Robson may hope to spark an auction for Jagielka but it is believed Jagielka wants a move to Everton and Toffees boss David Moyes hopes to avoid a drawn-out transfer saga.

Jagielka's versatility appeals to Moyes, having figured with distinction at right-back, in central defence and in midfield for The Blades.

He even gave a heroic performance in goal for Sheffield United in their 1-0 win against Arsenal at Bramall Lane in December.

Replacing dicky then....

Well this guy is a snip at 4 million, he also means that we can afford the luxury of not having a keeper on the bench.
