£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Given our run of tough fixtures, and Sigurdsson's past of scoring against the top teams, it really is in our best interests to get this sorted in the next day or two.

Doubt that logic will have any bearing on how the board act though, just give them an extra £5m ffs you tight sods we're supposed to be minted.

Only way our board come out of this looking good now is if we get him for £42m or less.

Unfortunately he probably won't be fit enough to make much of an impact for a couple of weeks at least

Unless we get a couple of last minute free kicks around the edge of the box...

Exactly what I had in mind, double sub last 15 him and Mola, Mola gets kicked and Gylfi sticks it in the top bin.

Fairly sure I should be our manager.

If it doesn't happen this week I can't see it ever happening. It was in everyone's best interest to get this boxed off two weeks ago yet there's still no word that anything has even been agreed. Turning into a farce.

It would have been worth going close to £50m a few weeks ago so that Sigurdsson was with us for at least some of pre-season

As it is, Paul Clement has shown Swansea's hand and we now know that they want to sell, so we now have negotiating leverage.

He's already missed the deadline for being registered for the EL, if we signed him tomorrow it's doubtful he would be involved against Man City given the lack of match action he's had, so really we are talking about having him available for the Chelsea game.

Personally I think if we've come this far, we may as well tough it out and drive the lowest possible price now. It would have been worth paying a premium a month or so ago to have him in for the 4 EL games, Stoke, City and Chelsea, but now we're talking one game and a potential saving of £5m to £10m.

Don't agree with the overall strategy, but we may as well see it through to the bitter end now, even if it drags on 'til deadline day

word on the street today is that ` it is close`...........

informal on the cards
"there was speculation that a breakdown in the deal was imminent"

I agree he hasnt improved in last 4 years but that doesnt mean his value hasnt gone up. Just look at Allen at Stoke. A similar type player who hasnt shown any improvement either but Swansea just had a £20m bid turned down.

McCarthys stock will be high with clubs below us.

except last season was joe allen's highest scoring premier league season and also his highest assisting season.
