The market we're dealing in is massively over inflated true. But if we don't overpay we don't get the players we need. And if we don't get the right players then more midtable mediocrity beckons.

We need to overpay and get the deals over the line. If we get the 3 good additions we need and they help us have a good season, then seriously who is arsed about the fees.

Agree in theory, but we need to make sure that if we're overpaying the players are genuinely going to make a difference.

I would be fairly confident that we could finish 7th with our current squad, so if we go out and spend another £80m or whatever, we really need to be finishing higher, otherwise it's pretty pointless and will affect our ability to spend again next year and push on.

..that's my definition too, Tim. World Class is a term too often applied to footballers and should only be reserved for the very special ones.

If city pay 53m for a full back because he gets forward at pace which doesn't win you games because his final ball ain't all that good it makes the ice mans 40m plus 5 in add on's look like a decent bit of business. He scores goals and creates goals and that's what wins you games so the price doesn't matter as long as he can keep repeating the figures that he has shown for a piss poor Swansea side who will be relegated without him. Fee is high, but sure hope this gets done the next day or so. Honestly, still think he becomes our best player the first time he puts on the shirt. Get a striker, keep Rosco, get a defender, and that's a pretty good window.

Now if someone would just bite on McCarthy or Niasse, might allow us to go bigger on the defender. We better not go cheap on the striker.
