tottenham hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as simply Tottenham (, TOT-ən-əm, , TOT-nəm) or Spurs, is a professional football club based in Tottenham, North London, England. It competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. The team have played their home matches in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since 2019, replacing their former home of White Hart Lane, which had been demolished to make way for the new stadium on the same site.
Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur's emblem is a cockerel standing upon a football, with the Latin motto Audere est Facere ("to dare is to do"). The team have traditionally worn white shirts and navy blue shorts as their home kit since the 1898–99 season. Their training ground is on Hotspur Way in Bulls Cross, Enfield. After its inception, Tottenham won the FA Cup for the first time in 1901, the only non-League club to do so since the formation of the Football League in 1888. Tottenham was the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960–61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. They were also the inaugural winners of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. They collected at least one major trophy in each of the six decades from the 1950s to 2000s, an achievement matched only by Manchester United.
In domestic football, Spurs have won two league titles, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, and seven FA Community Shields. In European football, they have won one European Cup Winners' Cup and three UEFA Cup/Europa League titles. Tottenham were also runners-up in the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League. They have a long-standing rivalry with nearby club Arsenal, with whom they contest the North London derby, as well as a contested rivalry with Chelsea. Tottenham is owned by ENIC Group, which purchased the club in 2001. The club was estimated to be worth £2.6 billion ($3.2 billion) in 2024, and it was the ninth-highest-earning football club in the world, with an annual revenue for season 2024–25 of €672.6M (£585.56M), as ranked by accountancy firm Deloitte.

Wigan are a solid little team now, 7th in the league by about a clear 5 points and even more clear from Spurs and probably will be next season. Good...

    Spurs 0 : 1 Burnley

Shocking defending - but we really should make more of an effort to get Eagles signed up... 15m to bring Defoe back, Harry's a muppet, they clearly need a keeper, a left back and a centre back.

Who should be the starting 11 against Spurs?

After the dire performance against Wigan I think that Moyes needs to have a complete clearout of the utter showers of [Poor language removed] that turned up last night, It upsets me that these players didn't have the heart and passion to wear the blue shirt. Yakubu, Arteta, Lescott and Yobo were simply not good...

    Spurs

It's bizarre down at Spurs at the moment. They won't go down, of that I'm sure. But look at what happens when you allow your two goal scorers to move on. Or is it something else? Ramos has a great history, far more spectacular than Moyes'. But is he doing something wrong? I'm perplexed, I really am.

    Portsmouth 2 Tottenham 0

Another game lost for Spurs. What's going on down there? Again, champions league Spurs fail to even get near to their desire. Ramos for the chop?

    Newcastle, Spurs

Who are people supporting tonight? I'm personally hoping for a Spurs victory. I don't like either at the moment but to add to the comic capers up there in Geordieland, Spurs need to triumph, preferably 5-0. Come on Spurs (y)

    Tottenham woes

Well despite yet another [Poor language removed] result for Everton and even more woe at the back, at least we're not rooted to the bottom like Spurs. What is it with this club that each year is tipped to break the top 4, yet consistently fails to even come close to doing so? Thank god that we're not Spurs...
