Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

We actually need a complete midfield imo if we are trying to get top half so that's 4/5 alone, only alcaraz and gana worth a start otherwise back towards the bottom, never mind the other positions.

Why not if this is our squad going into a new season, what's improved on last season. No guarantee our new ground will help until we have made it like goodison and that could take a few seasons. Not melodramatic mate just realistic and fed up with the same old same

Yeah I think we need 3 midfielders. I thought we only needed 2 initially, but I am now certain that Iroegbunam isn’t good enough and I want James Garner to become a squad player/sub ideally.

Well not really. I'm not saying it's what i'd do, i'm just saying if the vastly experienced manager we have in place hasn't been impressed by what he's seen in the 8 months he's been working with him every day it wouldn't be a massive surprise to see him moved on. That's how football works.
Of course I agree I just think it's short term thinking as Tim has shown promise and Emery at Villa liked him too

He offers a better football player than Tim Iroegbunam. What actually is your overarching point here?
Usually people are able to highlight facets of a player's game that they have seen that they appreciate and think they offer, whether that's pace, their guile, their creative ability etc. The only thing you've pointed out about Brownhill is his goals last season which can just be read from Wikipedia and doesn't indicate you've watched them play really.

Perhaps a different question would be, how much have you watched Brownhill play?

I'm not trying to dig you specifically out, but you're the person that is repeating Brownhill as a signing. It doesn't actually sound like anyone on here has seen Brownhill play much, if at all.

Are you suggesting we should only be after players that top teams also want? Sounds like the sort of strategy that has got us this far into the window with 17 senior players to be fair.
I'm suggesting rather than buying ordinary players who are approaching 30 we scout a bit better or worst case scenario give Armstrong a go

Oh god we’ve reached the “could be worse we could be going bust” stage of the window. Always an indicator that it’s going swimmingly and to plan.
Everyone knows and agrees that it hasn't gone according to plan so far mate. Moyes confirms it too. That's not the point.

We're in a huge game of poker right now, and the game ends when the transfer window closes. The beginning of the season, while it's important for us, is simply incidental in that game.

If we don't play our cards right we could end up losing everything - this is the scenario where we end the window with no key signings on our wishlist who would improve our current 1st eleven, and we're scrambling around on TDD throwing desperate offers out to get the numbers in.

We still have several hands to play before that point, and we have to keep bluffing for the royal flush while not folding early and losing our chips. The time will come to put our cojones on the line, but we have to wait until the other players show their hands.

That's the gamble. So can we all just understand this and let them get on with it without constantly saying they should be leading with a pair of twos? We'll find out soon enough if they have a poker face or not.

The premier league isn't all that great standard wise as we've seen the last couple of Dyche seasons. Plus apart from Doucoure it's the same starting 11 that Moyes got a tune out of. Plus our defence is alway top 10 in clean sheet statistics so we'll be solid if nothing else

Think we would be FOOLS to not take Brownhill.
Interesting, because I think the complete opposite.

I think we'd be fools not to have him right at the bottom of the list, almost like your proverbial "ten to two-er" but at the minute it's about 1am in copping off parlance. We've struck out a few times so far but there are still a few hotties on the dancefloor who might not find a better option or might fall out with their fellas before the club kicks out.

Patience is the watchword, and then if all else fails go for the fatty (Harrison/Brownhill/etc) just before closing time.
