Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

I don't actually want to sign him mate

But playing devil's advocate, I can understand why (if finances need to stretch to 8 to 10 players this summer) this is an option they'd consider. He's clearly past his best, but it's essentially a swap of Walker for Young Vs what our options were in the position last season and to me that represents an upgrade (albeit not as much of one as I was hoping we'd make).

As someone above has just suggested. Kyle Walker-Peters is on a free, lower wages, covers left and right back and can still get up and down the pitch.

Signing Kyle Walker is a dreadful idea. His pace made him such a great player (and got him out of so much trouble) but with that gone he’s a liability.

I'd suggest the bit about his pace is being overplayed slightly. Yeah, he's not as quick as he was 2 years ago, but he's not suddenly about to get outrun by Dwight McNeil.

Our data guys wouldn't be signing off on the wages he'd cost if he was physically nowhere near it.

People are quick to say he's finished without even watching a single Milan game. He's twice the player Young is. Every teammate speaks highly of him, he's won more than anyone else in the squad, still playing for England, and available on a free get him in.
He is over the hill and these are the type players we shouldn't be going for anymore. Get some younger players in with possible sell on value.

His pace is really the only thing that carried him in the PL. If he's lost any of it, he won't hang.

Besides, putting him specifically aside for a second, we shouldn't be taking on 35 year old players and expecting them to be major contributors, which he eventually would be.
