Gotcha.

Hindsight is a wonderfully virtue signalling trait. I maintain that Beto was dog poop under Dyche and right now he's hit a vein of form that is wonderful as a fan. I've still not seen enough to show me he's a prolific Prem CF. His touch is questionable and he's erratic. But the stats speak foe themselves currently. But overall he's a 1 in 6.7 striker at the moment.

A goal every 157 minutes ie every 1.75 matches (excluding the U21 EFL Trophy game where he scored twice)

What really impressed me yesterday was he was up against Guehi and Lacroix, i really rate both very highly.

He gave both an awful evening.

It’s a fair point being made. The sample size is small and we all know strikers can have purple patches so it’s important not to go too over the top, but you can’t argue with what he’s been doing over the last couple of weeks. Long may it continue.

He's got from now until end of the season to prove he's our number 9 and a proper Premier league forward. Love to see him do it.

Love his passion and if he keeps doing what he's doing and getting in those positions the easier sitters he seems to be missing will fly in too.

It's quite nice to see a player performing for us, isn't it?

I had written him off. Remember his debut? Came on and bullied Doncaster in the cup. We were rancid until he and Gueye came on. But Beto lifted the team, led from the front. I think many of us hoped we'd signed a gem.

Then... it didn't quite translate in the Premier League. Maybe the pace and canny nature of Premier league defenders caught him out. Probably Dyche-Ball didn't do him any favours. Confidence also arguably took a dip.

Well, Moyes has given him his chance. He's taken it, with aplomb, playing to his strengths. He's looked like the no. 9 who came on against Doncaster.

Let's hope he stays fit and in form.
my view is that he tried to be too 'big and strong' when he first started in prem games and refs were calling him for fouls, because his barges were too obvious. Now, he is closer to the ball and his barges are more aligned to what is acceptable. Full credit to him for those slight changes, his first touch wont get better but that adds to the chaos around him.

Hopefully he gets the lion's share of starts for the remainder of the season and his confidence can grow, his game refined that bit more, and he continues slotting. Love him, the big daft galoot.

It’s no different to some on
Here dragging up old posts to say I told you so
Because he’s scored a few goals and had a few good games

I thought him and doucoure were poor in the derby, especially doucoure. Some thought they played great, all about opinions.
Some would be happy to have them 2 up top next season, I wouldn’t
Although I replied to your post initially, it wasn't directed at you. It's in general.

I fall into the trap of doing it myself. As you say it's all about opinions so maybe something in the emotional investment we put into football frequently makes us go to extremes with those opinions.

Personally think the lad's doing well and looks a lot better than a lot of people first thought. At the same time, I also hope we can get better for next season.

Never said they were the same, I was taking about the reaction to them coming in out the cold and scoring a few goals and getting hyped by some of the fan base
He’s doing well right now in the here and now and that’s what matters and fair does to the lad.

He’s showing he can finish, but other parts of his game aren’t up to
The level required if you want to kick, can he improve them at 26/27?
I hope he scores another 10 and we get 30mil for him in the summer
An interesting one about can you improve at 26/27 in fundamentals, I think the answer is rarely but yes some players can do. I'd say the evidence of that can be seen yesterday in Mateta for palace who up until last season looked distinctly very average and suddenly he improved greatly and now looks one if the better out and out strikers in the league - pretty much the same age as Beto as well.

Yesterday and a lesser extent the derby though I saw him doing things that are a huge improvement over what we'd seen prior. Yesterday he was great in the air for example and using his chest like Fellaini almost, that's obviously down to the coaching staff from Moyes getting with the lad and the lad working on specific parts of his game which just frankly seem to have been largely ignored in training from other coaches.

Does appear he may be a late bloomer as a player though right now

He looked Sunday league level under Dyche. Wasn’t the only one to be fair…

On the evidence of his last 3 games, he’s our 1st choice striker.

Lukaku was never that technically gifted, just big, fast, strong & could finish.

And Beto appears to have a great attitude. Absolutely delighted for the lad and for us!

COYB!!!!!!!!
The Sunday league tactics won’t have helped.
