Great win in the end. The Afridi injury probably had a significant impact on the result but hats off to Ben Stokes again. Phenominal talent and character.

What has been your lowest point supporting Everton?

The West Ham semi-final is my lowest point as well. I think things affect you more when you are younger. I went by car with two lads I knew from Runcorn. They dropped me off at Runcorn station on the way back and the only train to Liverpool was a football special bringing Liverpool fans back...

    The Wire revisited (with spoilers)

Bubbles had a truly Dickensian story arc. His final rehabilitation was one of the few positives about the final series.

    The Wire revisited (with spoilers)

I find it impossible to choose between The Wire and The Sopranos. I rewatched The Wire in its entirety myself a few months ago and thought it held up really well - apart from the last series obviously, which was pretty awful. Bubbles was my favourite character and the episode where he tried to...

    International Lefthanders Day

Di Stefano, Puskas, Cruyff, Maradona, Messi, Maldini, Hagi, Robben, Giggs, Petr Cech, Salah are/were all left footed. Tennis players Laver, McEnroe, Connors, Navratilova, Seles, Nadal are/were all lefties. Spacial awareness is supposedly better with left handers, which may explain why 20% of...

    upcoming films

Written and directed by Martin McDonagh - basically the same writing/directing/acting team as did In Bruges - so has a good chance of being decent.

What are you currently listening to?

The Kilburns were a great live band. They played the Black Swan (or Mucky Duck as it was known locally) regularly in the mid-seventies when I was a student in Sheffield. Dr Feelgood were another regular there and I saw the Jam in one of their first gigs there.

    Wagatha Christie (Rooney V Vardy)

The Scousetrap was another, creative Agatha Christie based one as well.

    Cricket

A very enjoyable morning spent watching Lancs beat Northants. It was very comfortable in the end, with Williams and Sundar batting sensibly and only really giving one significant chance between them.

Djokovic could get vaccinated. He won't, but he could.

The forecast for the morning is cloudy and cool - expected temp at 11:00 is 18C. I live between Rugby and Northampton and will be heading over there in the morning with fingers and other extremities crossed.

    The Heatwave

You should sit out in it for a couple of hours. It will give you an idea of what awaits you for eternity when you kick off this mortal coil.

    The Heatwave

There were no raging fires and the temperatures were in the 30's. It went on for a few weeks and it was a great summer. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Not sure why you and Coollino are so obsessed with it now. Just enjoy the good weather we are having.
