Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, bit grey and cloudy today. Bit of a loose end with no football, we thought about taking in a local game but they have all been postponed too, cricket and rugby is carrying on though. Bit disappointed that we could have gone to Edinburgh after all as the strike was called off, have the couple of days in York as compensation though. Thought about taking the train from York to either Harrogate or Scarborough on Tuesday but as the Royal train will pass through York I’m sure travel will be disrupted so will just have to see. @fandjango grandkids certainly do have a way with words, grandchild no 3 said to me “Nanny, your face is all creased” , Cheers, Hannah tell me something I don’t know. Have good day, all.?

I was at a party talking to a lady in her early eighties and the conversation got around to me saying "Well I don't see the point !Why not just accept the wrinkles like us " to find out later she had had many facelifts .

I've never been able to say I'm an ITK but a bit of an exclusive for you guys.

Just back from the gym and chatting to a RAF PT instructor who told me theat all leave is cancelled and they have to report to Windsor Castle over the weekend to prepare for the funeral which is scheduled for 19 September.

Don't think that date has been released yet.

As some of you know I'm Chairman of our local table tennis league. Our season is due to start next week.

We've decided to proceed with games next week but matches on 19 September will be postponed.
It's almost certainly the 19th based on what many of the services and whatnot are planning for. Merpol will be sending people down to support it all.

Morning Ange and the rest of my friends on here.

It feels very strange today. It is sad but like a big chunk of something is missing, which feels really weird to me as someone not in favour of the Monarchy , the privilege, wealth and entitlement that goes with it.

Perhaps there's something deep in my psyche that , despite my ideological arguments against the Monarchy , still resonates and finds them an important institution and part of the fabric of this country.

And all that is intertwined with the sad passing of anyone but especially someone who we didn't actually know but somehow thought we did. She has touched so many lives , is important to so many people and quite naturally there will be a nationwide out pouring of grief.

My mum's OK. She's sad and I was worried that given her age it might prompt some morbid thoughts but no she seems to have compartmentalised.

I saw GOT at its worst yesterday. Some of the comments on a particular thread were scandalous , disrespectful and quite frankly whatever views you hold were beyond the pale.

I'm pleased to see that the mods seem to have deleted and expunged it. Those who "contributed " to it should be ashamed. But , they won't be. Even if , like me, you are not in favour of the Monarchy have some respect and decorum please.

Rant over.

No idea what the day holds.

Take care everyone.
It's very sad to see that the mickey taking of the Queen's death has carried on in the Premier League fixture postponement thread. I wondered why it has already attracted 60 odd pages of posts and it didn't take long to work it out.

The flip side of that is the media coverage which is totally OTT. Its as if there's nothing else going on in the world. Like famines and wars. I really do think our country's media is totally out of touch with the people. Bit like our politicians really.

Hi folks. We've had some unexpected visitors this afternoon. Daughter offered to mind her friend's two children while friend and husband went to Durham. So she brought them over to see us. We are currently entertaining a 3 yr old and a 1yr old. I've watched about 47 episodes of Peppa Pig and they're staying for tea.
Peppa is really quite annoying. Grampy Rabbit is my favourite character, Brian Blessed hamming (pun intended) it up. Have fun.

The number of cops being drafted under mutual aid will be above ten thousand, easily. For the G7, it was 6,000 for leafy and quiet Cornwall.

We’re talking close to 20,000 cops with leave cancelled, squaddies drafted in, reserve troops called up and the whole shabang. It’s all in.

Why has football been cancelled? It’s because nearly all public order or firearms officer trained cop will be utilised to cover a huge intake of world leaders.

The Emperor of Japan is coming - k’in ell, he doesn’t even go to funerals in his own country. People may not realise how big it’ll be.

Safe to say we won’t be playing until after the International break.

A real good news story to share.

5 weeks ago one of our U15 girls was cycling and got hit by a car. Went through the windscreen and was put into an induced coma.

2 weeks ago she joined her teammates on the field while in a wheelchair as they secured the league.

Tonight she was kicking ball with her friends at the end of the game as kids flood onto the field.

Wearing a helmet saved her life. Please in your own clubs or homes encourage kids to wear helmets.
