Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

This is a sad day , almost too sad for me a simple soldier for over 20 years to contemplate, IN 1971 I stood on the day of my enlistment with one hand on the bible and one hand on my heart and pledged my allegiance to The Queen
That allegiance has not wavered during her watch and it will not waver now
God Save The King
Well said mate. I'm 100% with you. Very sad to see some if the piss taking going on in other parts of the forum but I'm used to that now. Still sad to see and probably sad that I just accept it as being an Evertonian and a member of thus forum.

On our way back from Spalding this morning we called in at Crowland Abbey. My 2x gt grandfather is buried there so went to visit his grave. Here’s a few pics. The roof boss is the Green Man and dates from the 15th century.View attachment 182788View attachment 182789View attachment 182790View attachment 182791 View attachment 182793View attachment 182799
I know how much you love churches H. There's an amazing one in Valletta but the streets are so narrow and the surrounding building so tall, you just couldn't get a decent pic of it. There's an amazing dome and gold Cross at the top of this but the pic doesn't do it justice 20220908_105949.webp

I was presented to her in her late 40s as a young soldier … she shone like a jewel
We all thought my mum looked like her. My mum was a couple of years older. She met her at Liverpool cathedral when my dad was awarded Maunday money back in the naughties, and my mum said she nearly pee'd herself she was that excited. Good Irish girl too my mum.

Just Googled it. It’s beautiful.

Fittingly, a good few thousand men and women, who took the oath to guard their Queen, will continue to do so over the next ten days.

Good morning. Sad news yesterday about The Queen. I have huge respect for her. She has done her duty as she said she would all those years ago. RIP. Historic times ahead - not many of us will have witnessed the death of a monarch and the Coronation of a new one.
Morning Ange and the rest of my friends on here.

It feels very strange today. It is sad but like a big chunk of something is missing, which feels really weird to me as someone not in favour of the Monarchy , the privilege, wealth and entitlement that goes with it.

Perhaps there's something deep in my psyche that , despite my ideological arguments against the Monarchy , still resonates and finds them an important institution and part of the fabric of this country.

And all that is intertwined with the sad passing of anyone but especially someone who we didn't actually know but somehow thought we did. She has touched so many lives , is important to so many people and quite naturally there will be a nationwide out pouring of grief.

My mum's OK. She's sad and I was worried that given her age it might prompt some morbid thoughts but no she seems to have compartmentalised.

I saw GOT at its worst yesterday. Some of the comments on a particular thread were scandalous , disrespectful and quite frankly whatever views you hold were beyond the pale.

I'm pleased to see that the mods seem to have deleted and expunged it. Those who "contributed " to it should be ashamed. But , they won't be. Even if , like me, you are not in favour of the Monarchy have some respect and decorum please.

Rant over.

No idea what the day holds.

Take care everyone.
