Che Adams is simply not good enough if we have bigger ambitions than being a team fighting to stay up season after season. We cant buy players we already know are not good enough even if just for "back up"
Thats not how you strengthen the squad. Ideally you buy players who improves the first 11. Then the players who almost relegated us last year become our back up players.
For short term bring Artem Dzyuba. Available on a free and can play the lone striker role on a very high level. Would give DCL a good fight for his place in the team.

Dzyuba had a public beef with Mykolenko regarding the Ukraine war.

I don't think our PR team would enjoy the signing of both a Russian and a homophobe in the same transfer window haha

Feels unlikely TBH.

Shame about him in general tbh. He was pretty much top notch for a few seasons. Isn’t his wife a bit crazy? (Even more so in terms of the average wife)
Icardi is married to Argentine media personality Wanda Nara. Nara was married to Icardi's former Sampdoria teammate Maxi López, but the couple split after her relationship with Icardi was exposed. She and López began divorce proceedings in December 2013.[10] Nara and Icardi subsequently married on 27 May 2014, not long after the divorce was finalised, at a small ceremony in Buenos Aires.[196] They have two daughters, Francesca, born on 19 January 2015,[197] and Isabella, born on 27 October 2016.[198]

The marriage to Wanda provoked animosity against Icardi in Argentina, making him a target of rumors and unsubstantiated claims by Argentinian tabloids. It has been argued that, arguably, the generalized hatred against him has been an important factor against his being called to the national team, and even prospective calls have been heavily criticized by figures such as the late Diego Maradona, who had entangled in bitter exchanges with Icardi on Twitter as a result of his marriage to Nara.[199] During an April 2014 Serie A match between Sampdoria and Inter, López notably refused to shake Icardi's hand, leading the press to dub the game the "Wanda derby".[200] Two years later, López repeated the story by again refusing to shake Icardi's hand during a Serie A match against Torino.

I don’t see Adams as a replacement for DCL but he could do a job as second striker if we play 352 or 442. He could have the same role as Steven Naismith had with Lukaku back in the days.
neither do I, I just think there's more than goals to his game & the signing shouldn't be being dismissed before he's through the door. its also a better signing if we have another forward coming in, of course lol
