Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all. It's raining here in County Durham. So much for the super hot weather.
Cloudy and very humid here still 27 degrees at 6o’clock. Wish it would rain here, three water butts and they are all empty, even used the water out of the pond, (it’s purely ornamental so no fish have been harmed) Mr G. has resorted to using the hosepipe - he’s not happy lol. At this rate the water meters’ days are numbered.

19 degrees and cloudy here but the weekend looks like a scorcher

14 up here on the North Coast and haven't had any sunshine during this 'fictional' heatwave. Even rained today (considering the date - that's not all bad ?)

Just popped in to ask (as this is the safest place on the site and I'll get a sensible reply)... it's remarkably quiet and peaceful on the site - did I miss a "mass banning" incident or are a number big characters just lying low?

Not sure really. Maybe because Everton haven't done much in the transfer market there's not much to moan about. Davek ( aka Big Orange) tried to stir it up a bit in his Bernie Ecclestone thread. Sadly I took the bait, in spite of my best intentions lol .

I think last season did see the demise of some big characters and some unexpected bannings. It all got too much for some poor souls. Other than that maybe it's just too hot to argue!

I figured that there would be chat about an 'event' but some very prolific posters have suddenly gone quiet. I thoroughly enjoyed some of their craic and would certainly miss their chaos. Thank you for the reply. I knew I'd get a sensible one in here. ?

@Bluerover Happy Anniversary a chara.

Good evening my lovelies, it's so hot and clammy here. I hate it. I love proper sunshine but this muggy stuff can do one. Went to the gym this evening. I did not feel the love. Too hot, too sweaty and not the time to be lifting weights.

In other news, we harvested our first potato crop yesterday. Cooked some of them tonight. They were amazing. Nothing fancy, just boiled them and served with butter. Daughter and I are feeling quite proud of ourselves. We also have 10 tomatoes on our plants. This may not sound much but it is 9 more than we achieved last year!

Hope you enjoyed the cricket @jazzy . Nice day for it.

I have spent my afternoon watching The Boys from the Blackstuff. First time I have ever properly seen it but I do remember it being on the telly as a child. Powerful stuff.

Was hoping for more Everton references though.
I love Alan Bleasedale. Great writer. If you have never seen GBH that's worth a watch too. I think that was my most favourite thing ever.

I miss @orly from the site in particular. A good lad who was an outlier in the FSW Out campaign before the stain was even appointed.

@Moomin as well another lost valued contributor.

Haven’t seen it but will have a hunt for it.

Fully understand the anger of Liverpool towards the Tories whenever you watch the Boys from the Black Stuff.

In no way wishing to derail this to Irish politics but watching it reminded me of a Republican activist telling me how ‘they poured money into us and created jobs to try and end the conditions that led to lads volunteering’.

The desperation of those lads in the show was choking.
