Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I’m sat here with a Fry’s Cream selection box on my knee trying to follow an old film. Ah Christmas is here ?
Nice.

Talking of old films...its tradition in the Jazzy house that we MUST watch It's a Wonderful Life every Christmas Eve evening without fail.

As my mum says ..."you must know wvery word by now" and yes we do !!

"Buffalo Girls won't you come out tonight"......

2pm on Channel 4 tomorrow as it happens.

On a similar note, the ‘Golden Cleric’ episode of Father Ted has become my Christmas Eve tradition ?

I love omelettes but absolutely rubbish at making them. They end up looking like scrambled eggs with added stuff. Taste OK though. any tips on how to get them to look like an omelette?
I’m rubbish at making them too. Someone told me the trick is to stir from the middle slowly drawing in the egg from the outside. Tried that - didn’t make a blind bit of differencelol

I know it's easier said than done Anje, and forgive me if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here, but my advice would be to take a mental pause to ask yourself why you're eating before you eat anything. If it's genuine hunger, carry on. If it's because you're stressed, bored, or any other emotional reason, then do something else that would help you address it more effectively. If it's, say, because you're feeling stressed, do something else that helps to de-stress and relax you, but not replace it with another vice, such as drinking.

Any alternative behaviours don't have to necessarily be healthy, as long as they're not unhealthy. Remind yourself that eating doesn't actually address the stress you're feeling, it just diverts you from it for a bit. Chances are, once you've finished the food/snack, the stress is still there and you crave more. If you think beforehand every time you eat emotionally, then respond in a healthier way, after a while the new behaviours become more habitual.

After Christmas though, of course.
You are absolutely right. Our relationship with food is very complex. Everybody knows what you are supposed to do but the actual doing it is much harder. A lot of it is in your head - as you rightly said about boredom and stress. I'm feeling quite motivated now I have a plan so hopefully I can get on with it after Christmas.

My go to Christmas viewing that is not even Christmassy but I have to watch it every year because as a child, it always seemed to be on on Boxing Day, is Jason and The Argonauts. The old Ray Harryhausen version with the skeletons.

The boredom point is an excellent one Anj

Small world! My youngest watched that with me yesterday for the first time and loved it. He’s going through a ton of mythology books at the minute as well.
