It’s almost like we got a big name manager that attracted big name players, then we got upset that the big name players admitted being attracted by the big name manager
Champions League football or European football attracts players not Managers - Carlo fetched in World class players I admit, but sadly the wrong age plus not to withstand the vigour of Premiership football.... hence they suffered injuries which seen us go from the top to mid-table lets face it the last twelve games we were playing relegation football.......we need pace, skill sets in new players -

Leeds have done it on minimal cash injection while we have wasted millions not just on buying but high wage contracts ...... who no other clubs will entertain as yet ....... It's as if we have to get rid to buy like the DM days now - plus cash for the new ground has to be put aside for our future - if we don't make good signings this week It's going to be a very hard season maybe a relegation struggle ....

That's why Carlo walked away IMO he knew the state of play this season .....

Disagree with most of that. Money brings players. Club status. Managers persuade them to sign the line. It why instead of Leon Bailey and Wilfred Zaha from Leverkusen and Palace we got Townsend and Gray instead.

Leeds have done what exactly? Could easy do what Sheff United did their follow up season. They were operating at maximum level to finish above us on goal difference.

Agreed that we need pace.

And Carlo didn't walk away cos of our situation. That would've been true if he went to Roma or some other club that wasn't as big as Real

What players have we had in with sustained class then ? Answer it on a postage stamp - as we are struggling to get them off the books...... the ones who are very good we need to keep - unfortunately very few....

True. But there's a number of factors to that from recruitment and stability.

We look like a club and have a squad who changes managers every 18 months. Lack of youth given a run, no long term targets, no identity.

enough with the "vigorous epl" Or " pace" BS... so many fans are fooled by the idea , in truth top EPL teams OUT FOOTBALL the so called horse teams, they hire quality player after quality player but some here insist in bringing awful players who cant control a friggin ball and hope to suceed..

teams build to outrun and counter attack are anomalys, not the rule (among winnin teams), the game has changed to favor offensive football, handballs/ easy yellowcards/redcards, lesser contact to call a freekick .. etc etc.

"agreed that we need pace" NO NO NO, everton needs to be able to conect 3 consecutive passes , every1 can get pace, IN FACT every single pro team can achieve top phisical form (and most do), but no amount of pace will make up for doucures horrible ball control, or iwobis/ holgate/ mina...even richardlison , just to name a few.

the lack of actual proper football technique is huuuuge, and while hoofing it up top and counterattaking may seem easier, the treat of defending so deep is bigger than the benefits of playing on your front foot while doing a high press sistem (in wich you will need ... yes FAST CBs)

Real Madrid offered him a job.

Have to agree. It's mobility and quality with the ball.

There's more ways to skin a cat, so the need to "fast speedy players" is not the be all and end all. It can cover up weaknesses though.

Take Southampton and Fulham for example. Both out pace and out worked us last season. Both had glaring flaws in their teams that it was covering. Same with Leeds who couldn't defend for all their work rate.

It's a balance.

However we do need more ball carriers and mobility

very strange now James is linked with an exit the papers quote a weekly salary of 200k a week.
When he signed 90k or 120k-140k was quoted.
I noticed this as well. I remember hearing 100-120K to explain why it was such a bargain, now its widely quoted as 200K/week, Unless there was dramatical raise in the second year of the contract, it seems like someone connected to the club is manipulating the numbers to fit their narrative.

I mean imagine that

pliz try to xplain this to the majority of this forum (specially to their champion: foreverblue..)

Yes & they have loads of money = Not, but maybe he liked their squad of players better in an easier league ...... this Carlo he's been sacked before I might add .... to myself our last 12 games we played under him was relegation football with a couple of lucky wins e.g. Arsenal away .....

If we had a massive transfer budget this season he may have stayed....
