The draw had been made for this season's Checkatrade Trophy. It's a trophy Fylde have struggled in only making it out of the group stage once. Many critics say Ferguson doesn't take the trophy seriously and the fans yearn for more silverware and would want to see the team lift it.

Euan Henderson was showing his quality at 31 years of age and he stated he was in the form of his life in a recent interview with Soccer AM. Renaldo Downey had his work cut out if he were to dislodge him from the startling lineup. It was a quiet first half in Rotherham. Jimmy Dube was tested once at close range and he turned the shot behind the post. Declan Marhsall came on for Josh Ferguson with 20 minutes to go. Morton took the throw inside the Rotherham half and Bytheway flicked it on to Marshall inside the box and he lobbed it towards Henderson but it was cleared. Rotherham defending very well in the final few minutes. Fylde needed some magic and Bytheway got on the ball and ran forward, the Rotherham players backed off and he played in Henderson, he took the shot with his left foot and the keeper done magnificently to palm it away. Inside the fourth minute of the four added on, Henderson ran over to take the corner and there was an air of tension inside the stadium. He crossed to the near post but Jordan headed away and the final whistle was blown. A point apiece and Rotherham will be pleased with a point.
DF: Rotherham had a few chances to win it, they wasn't great with their finishing but we wasn't either. The best chance fell to Hendo late and it looked destined for the back of the net, he hit it really well. A point isn't a bad result but our rivals are picking up points and we need to match them.

After taking the point from Rotherham a week earlier it was an away trip to 16th place Mansfield Town. The earliest chance for Fylde came on 16 minutes when Bytheway played a nice ball into the feet of Tyrone O'Neill and he blazed over from inside the box. Declan Marshall was given a rare start but went down after 20 minutes clutching his knee. Josh Ferguson replaced him. Bytheway played the ball down the line for the chasing Morton, he got to the byline and crossed for Henderson but he headed just over the bar. Patrick Uttridge showed great vision and played a great ball splitting the defence to Bytheway who slotted into the bottom corner on 41 minutes! Henderson took the ball out the right just outside the opposition box, played it into the feet of Bytheway cutting it past two defenders and he blasted his second in three minutes later! What a strike! 20 minutes to go and Lees played the ball forward to Zak Brown who had the beating of Sam Gibson and he struck the post beating Jimmy Dube, the keeper tried to salvage it but it crossed the line and Mansfield were back in the match. Two minutes later Mansfield swung in the free-kick but it was cleared by Gibson. The ball came to Swann and he squared it to Cain, he hit it and the ball struck the post before hitting Dube on the back and finding it's way into the net, Mansfield pull level! Ten minutes to go, Josh Ferguson sent the ball forward down the right towards Bytheway, he crossed for the run of Henderson but it was straight into the hands of the keeper. Mansfield got the ball down the other end and Stone tried the cross, Gibson headed clear and Ferguson ran forward with the ball, he had Henderson and Quinn in support and Henderson received the pass, Henderson played in Jack Quinn and he buried it past the keeper! His first goal for Fylde! But no! The linesman raised his flag! Offside! Replays show he was clearly offside. Morton took the throw on 90 minutes, Bytheway flicked it on to Josh Ferguson and he tried a curling shot with his left foot and the keeper got across to palm it away, great save. 30 Seconds to go and Uttridge won the ball back and passed it to Bytheway, her tried the cross but it was deflected behind for the corner. John Jones went over to take what would be the last action of the match, he tried the in-swinger but it had too much pace on the ball and went towards the touchline. The referee ended the match and it's a great result for Mansfield who pulled two goals back to get a point.

Greg Taylor and Steve Stockbridge at full back, Jack Quinn on the right and Christian Hutson as the striker. Sinn'kaye Osborne made his debut in goal with Jimmy Dube on international duty with Zimbabwe. Meadowcroft made a great run forward down the Liverpool right and crossed into the box and Kenny McPherson was caught in a muddle with Osborne and put the ball into his own net, Liverpool with the early lead. The long ball game wasn't working for Fylde and there was a lot of space between the Liverpool defence and midfield for Fylde to getr into but they were not getting in those spaces. Josh Ferguson got it wide to Greg Taylor who got up the pitch, he crossed into the box and Hutson came narrowly close with the header going just over the bar. Henderson switched the ball to Quinn on the right side. Quinn went on a maizy run and tried the shot from the edge of the box but it went over the bar. Thirty minutes left and Jack Quinn won the ball back with a great tackle and made strides down the right side, he found Henderson but his first touch was poor and he lost the ball to Morris. Bytheway came on for the remaining 30 minutes for Hutson with Jack Quinn pushing forward. Two minutes later Baron had the ball 20 yards out, he was under no prssure and he took a low shot which went past Osborne who was late to get over and made it 2-0. Liverpool were defending well as a unit and limited Fylde from getting any clear chances on goal. Bytheway played it back to Stockbridge, he got a shot away on his right foot but the keeper got across to parry it, great save. Henderson tried the long rsange shot and the keeper pulled of another great save. Sam Gibson pumped the ball forward to Henderson in the box on 87 minutes but he was beaten to the header, Greg Taylor pounced on the loose ball and blasted it low on his left foot with power and pulled a goal back! Two minutes gone in stoppage time, Stockbridge won the ball on the right and the fans roared the team forward, Bytheway got the loose ball and got it into the box for Henderson, he took it down and beat the full back and blasted it into the top corner to level the score! Brilliant from Fylde. The whistle is blown and the game went to penalties. Euan Henderson was first to take a spot kick, he went to the left but Millington saved! Baron was up against Osborne, Baron with the stuttered run up and he blasted it into the top right corner. It was up to Bytheway to keep Fylde in the match.......buried into the top corner! Simpson took the second spot kick for Liverpool and made it 3-2 going into the third kick. Patrick Uttridge lined up the kick, he buried it into the bottom right corner to keep Fylde in the game. Gibbons took the third kick for Liverpool and buried it with Osborne rooted to the spot. It's on veteran Tyrone O'Neill who slotted cooly into the bottom left sending the keeper the opposite way. Osborne up against Setchell to try and keep Fylde in this match, Setchell sent Osborne the wrong way and now it's up to Josh Ferguson to keep Fylde in the shootout and he sent the keeper the wrong way with a great low finish. Pereira took the long walk up for Liverpool to try to win the shootout, Pereira went down the middle, it clipped the leg of Osborne but managed to still go in and it's a win for Liverpool U23's in the first group match winning 5-4 on penalties.
DF: Putting the penalty shootout to one side, the performance from us in the second half was fantastic and he won done brilliantly to pull this match back. Why we have a penalty shootout at the end of a draw is baffling to me but we have to respect the rules of the competition. We played well and I'm happy to come away with a good performance.

Fylde were hit with a few injuries including Euan Henderson, Christian Hutson and Declan Marshall but fortunately it was only minor. Victor Oto'o started light training with the first team earlier this week. Barry Sargent lined up for Swindon Town against his former club. Fylde had a great chance inside the first 20 seconds, Tyrone O'Neill got it forward to Jack Quinn but his shot was saved at the near post. Barry Sargent was livid with the referee on two minutes when Jordan Wilson put in an aggressive tackle but the referee waved play on and Ferguson got the ball down the pitch for Jack Quinn who skinned his marker but was denied by the keeper once again at the near post. The Fylde fans sounded their appreciation as they edged closer to the opener. John Jones took the resulting corner and found Tyrone O'Neill with the header put the keeper got his hands to it and let it run free, Sam Gibson got to it and tapped it home! Fylde done brilliant to win the ball back when they lost it but were unable to double their lead inside the first half. Jones was delivering some good balls from corners and O'Neill almost grabbed the second with a header that just went over the bar. Barry Sargent was taken off with 25 minutes to go to cheers from the home fans and Brett McGavin came on for Fylde. McGavin has been instrumental over the years for Fylde but his future is unknown at The Coasters. Fylde were caught napping on 73 minutes when Powell whipped in the free-kick and it bounced right through for Harris to poke past Dube to level for Swindon. Swindon found the chink in the Fylde armour and another long ball forward found Appiah who got the better of the defence and he wellied it into the top left corner to make it 2-1 to Swindon. It was Swindon who turned the match around in the late stages and Alex Gilbey got one over on Duncan Ferguson in this one. Fylde miss a big chance to make a move on the top six.
DF: We were disappointing to fall apart so easily like we did when we looked so comfortable but I have to take responsibility for trying to defend a 1-0 lead. I got it wrong and changed our shape which allowed Swindon to score so easily.

A tough game ensued for Fylde as they welcomed Euan Henderson back for the visit of MK Dons. 16 seconds in and Bytheway won his team a corner after an audacious 40 yard low shot which the keeper tried to keep in play but took it over the goal line, Euan Henderson set it in but it was cleared away by MK Dons. John Jones tried the free-kick on 5 minutes but it hit the wall, Henderson picked up the ball and took it on his left foot and smashed the bar from outside the box, Feeney went in to try and knock it in but it was cleared away. Fylde were playing well in the MK Dons half but the defence was doing a stellar job, John Jones crossed in from the left and Tyrone O'Neill got up well for the header and powered it past the keeper to make it 1-0! The football was flowing and a great ball down the middle for Tyrone O'Neill saw him get one on one with the keeper and got his second of the match! Tyrone O'Neil was desperate for his hat-trick and just on the stroke of half-time saw his right footed shot sail wide of the goal. MK Dons came out at Fylde in the second half and Feeney and Gibson were defending well against the high balls into the box. Matt Moran played it to Daniel Jones on the edge of the box and his daisy cutting shot trickled over the line beating Dube to make it 2-1. On 63 minutes the Fylde fans were livid as Matt Moran was allowed to advance forward getting to the edge of the box and slotting past Dube which he should have done better with, 2-2. Declan Marshall came on for Josh Ferguson with ten minutes to go, was there going to be a winner here today? Henderson played it to Marshall who played it back to Henderson, Henderson knocked it on to the overlapping John Jones but his cross was blocked, Henderson tried the shot from the rebound but it was cleared away. A point apiece for both sides and a very subdued Fylde fanbase at the end of this encounter. MK Dons stay in 8th but Fylde drop down to 12th.

In the same conversation, Ferguson also alluded to Fylde being in a season of rebuilding and that it was always going to be a challenging season after having to rectify some big losses to a good team. Ipswich were sitting back early on and Fylde were searching for the breakthrough, Henderson went for goal on the edge of the box and it looked to be curling into the top corner but the keeper pushed it over the bar. Ipswich were happy to park the bus and they kept Fylde at bay for large parts of the game. John Jones sent in the ball from 25 yards out from the free-kick towards the far post and Sam Gibson done well to win the header but put it over. Patrick Uttridge received his marching orders on 91 minutes after fouling Connolly with a shove trying to win ther ball, his second yellow card of the game. The match ended a draw at Portman Road and a frustrating evening for Fylde.
