Pre-season was over and it was the start of the 2031-32 season. Fylde starting their campaign with a tough away trip to Exeter. After missing out on play-offs last season, Feguson rebuilt the team, a number of new faces were in today's starting line-up. The new midfield partnership of Patrick Uttridge and Ellis McKimm-Forster who were both on loan. Christian Hutson started on the right wing rejoining the club on a free and Vince Bytheway was unavailable due to injury. Tyrone O'Neill led the line for Fylde in his tenth season for The Coasters. Five minutes in and John Jones got a roaring reception from the away following as he ran over to take the first corner. He whipped it to the near post but it was cleared away to McKimm-Forster who controlled it brilliantly on his chest and hit it on the half volley into the top right corner! The 18 year old announces himself to Fylde! Sithole played a nice one-two in the middle of the pitch with Swan and got on the end of his return ball inside the box to make it 1-1 just after ten minutes. The Fylde midfield were caught up the pitch. Henderson passed the ball to Josh Ferguson who then sprayed it ut wide left to Jones, he crossed from the byline for O'Neill but it was cleared away to Josh Ferguson who got his right foot around it on the volley and the keeper who was backpeddling managed to get a hand to tip it over. There was a major change in the game on 24 minutes when Feeney attempted to play a back pass to Jimmy Dube but Forrest hacked him down, the referee had no choice but to show him a straight red card. Just more than ten minutes into the second half, Morton passed it to Hutson inside the box who turned and crossed to the far post for Euan Henderson who got his head to it and lobbed the keeper as it went into the bottom corner! 2-1 to Fylde! 33 year old left back Greg Taylor came on for John Jones who was tiring with 22 minutes to go. Fylde looked assured in possession and the passing was fluid, Henderson lined up the shot on his right foot from 20 yards out and struck the bottom of the post. Euan Henderson was on fire, he took the ball again on the edge of the box with a right footed shot that was curling towards the bottom corner and the keeper pulled off a fantastic save parrying it away. Mark Morton came forward on 89 minutes, he played it to Hutson but his shot was deflected, Henderson picked up the loose ball and slotted on his left foot for his second of the match! What a performance from Euan Henderson! The whistle is blown and its a great start to the season for Fylde!

DF: The lads played like a team and that's brilliant to see considering how many new faces there are. No question it was a sending off, but it did change the dynamics of the game.

And here's me thinking it was just a big typo on the back of all the Exeter shirts. What a player Sithole is for them.

Liquid football from the harpooners though.

UTFC! WARD OUT!

Finally! Definitely worth the wait. E M-F’s goal, unbelievable.

Impeccable journalism as always from @The Penalty Box Dancer.

UTFC.
Heard on the grapevine that Former Everton Manager Rafael Benitez is after Ferguson’s job and has taken to wearing bedsheets to impersonate a ghost to spook him out of Fylde.
Hopefully nothing to it all though we all know about Big Duncs Loose bowels.

Been much better since he’s ditched the smoked kipper and undiluted orange squash power breakfasts, gone all posh and now has half an avocado on whole meal toast, tho he does insist on eating the avocado stone for some reason.
I heard it’s cos James Beattie likes to hear the sound of the final plop so he knows how long everyone has until they can remove their gas masks.

Thank God for this as I heard Ward was trying to replace Dunc with that former Forset Green manager (I won't even say his name here tbh), if that happened then they would know all about bed sheets, I can assure you
