Stupid post, we have been winning playing like this too, it was only a matter of time before people notice that we play bad football most of the time. We have not dominated a game for months, this stupid " we won, stop moaning" thing is mad, we have been outplayed by relegation fodder many times this season. If we were playing like this under marco, fat sam etc people would be far less forgiving

There is noting wrong with constructive criticism
Nope. Wins are wins. The points matter the most.

Difference is that the likes of Silva and Allardyce wouldn't pick up the points Carlo has. Carlo isn't the issue and you can't change a squad over night. So the option is sack Carlo or be patient and let him fix it over a few windows. Our squad is no were near a top 6 sqaud and we are where we are in the table thanks to Carlos tactics even if you're not happy that it's not tiki taka. We don't have the players to play sexy football without conceding loads. Even playing more defensively we still ship a heap. Give it time

Yes, in the short term but, getting out payed for80 minutes by relegation teams will not serve you well in the long term. We need to dominate teams like this, at least occasionally.
They can ‘outplay us’ all day for all i care if we win. That goes for every single match.

Has anyone else noticed that we seem to be losing possession alot from our own throw in's. I've been keeping half an eye on it in recent games, there's nobody really moving into positions that allow them to get the ball, opposition players are putting pressure on and we end up losing it.
Yeh, Digne/Holgate look for runners, none show so they chuck it at Gomes who's return pass is intercepted. Frustrating

Don’t disagree with OP at all. Ultimately we were buzzing with our new transfers at the start of the season and went on a sexy football tear, but once our bubble burst the only way we could put results together was with a safety first approach, get the defence right and look for the occasional counter attack or set piece goal.

It’s fine to say we should press high and retain the ball better and work harder, but that requires levels of fitness and skill that this group of players don’t naturally possess and can’t be taught overnight. Carlo is playing the waiting game, getting what he can from this lot while no doubt plotting behind the scenes to bring in more high energy players like Allan and Doucoure, and better ball players like James.

Is anyone else getting frustrated by this tendency to pass back all the time? Allan, davies, keane, holgate and even Gomez are serious culprits. I noticed it in a big way against United and it's the same [Poor language removed] yarn since then. DCL and Richarldson are busting a gut up front and no one is trying to find them. I'd much prefer losing the possession with an audacious through ball then keeping it tiky tak

2. Not keeping possession
This is a major issue. Chelsea were knocking the ball around tonight like any team should when they are protecting a lead. When we're ahead it's just 'sit back and absorb'. Against teams like man city this is going to have crucified.

3. Not pressing enough
Ashley Cole alluded to this after the west Brom game. He said 'they dont run enough off the ball for my liking. If you're chasing your dreams you've got to work much harder'. This is spot on. The aggression and pressure in the second half tonight was excellent, but why arent they like this every game? Why does it take going 2 nil down? A Guardiola side suffocates you, the pressure is immense and you dont get a chance to think. Coleman, davies and allan have great intensity, but I just wish there was this desire aggression from the whole side. Love to see players doubling up and crowding out the opposition. Can't understand why it requires a 2-0 deficit to motivate them into playing like demons.

All these issues can be rectified in a single team talk. Cant understand why they're reappearing game after game. Anyone else notice this lack of intensity and aggression?
Anyone else notice this lack of intensity and aggression? To be honest it would be very hard not to notice it, in a couple of the players it just in their armoury, we must be the slowest team in the league in getting forward and also look to be one of the poorest teams in terms of fitness, even when we are winning.

something about "shut up lad, we're winning"

I totally agree with you btw

Fair enough, personally, I am not happy being dominated by very average teams, yes we beat some but it is not pretty. Will almost certainly have cost us CL too.
Winning games ugly cost us CL? Or losing to a very inform Chelsea? Theyre not the same. I also dont belive we’re out of the picture yet, tho it is harder now.

Like, i also want us to play sexy football. But as Carlo said after the Chelsea game, we dont have the squad to do it right now and sadly hes right. With everyone fully fit we’re closer, but still not there. If we tried, we’d probably ship goals like a Martinez team, and nobody wants that.

My wife has watched a few games recently and cannot understand how our squad of internationals gets run ragged by crap teams with few internationals.
I feel that our players are not working to their full ability and that is attributable to the manager.I am NOT saying carlo is bad but, we do not play like a team of international;s under one of the best caches in the world, getting legged by Newcastle and Fulham.
I dunno., a bit of desire would really help

For me if you play with your full backs that high that they are going to be the ones that give you the width then we gotta play with 3 CBs, or we play wingers to give us the width.

At the moment we are easy to play against, we cant keep the ball because there is no width or depth and the play is compressed so invariably it goes backwards to keep possession.

What we saw against Chelsea was Digne giving us width on the left but we didnt get a lot from Holgate on the right. With potent headers of the ball like DCL and Richarlison I think youd want to get wide and get non stop crosses in the box.

Thats why CA gets the money he does and he has won the trophies he has. Like a few have said recently watching Everton these days is painful, be nice to get Europe, not really confident against City in the FA Cup but we will have a go Im sure.

We can't press because we aren't mobile enough in midfield and aren't high enough up the pitch. Docuoure is one of the few that actually can and he is out.

The passing back point is spot on. There are numerous occasions in our build up play where we have the opportunities to play incisive, forward passes but opt to go safe to centre backs. It is incredibly frustrating and just an issue of bravery for me. It allows opponents to reset their shape and we lose any gained ground.
It's all true the caveat is our one play maker is out to fire balls into the forwards you need confidence and bravery, confidence it will stick
