Doucoure's weakness, as in marshalling the centre defensively. Gomes the same.
Ideally you have Alan there but Doucoure can't do the job needed on the right, as in to continue to play the game, with some semblance as to the way they've been playing, the way they've been winning games.

Sure, the side has to move on from Sig playing in the midfield three. Its just hasn't happened.
But given the injuries and suspension he can still be a weapon.
Cutting back on to his left foot and either crossing or shooting is when he's most dangerous.

Who would you rather crossing the ball to Niels or DCL - Sig, Iwobi, or Gordon?

We just need to do what clubs like Wolves dine on every weekend - play it tight and try nick a 1-0 win

That means 352 or 451

Getting Niels in space on the left (with Bernard scrapping closer to Dom) would be good
but only if we get decent play up the right and only if there are the players to switch the ball across to Niels.
For all of Sigs faults, he, and Alan are the ones who can get the balls across. Two doing the work of James, basically.

Doucoure in the centre is the weakness here.
Gordon for Siggurdson and you’re in business there

Gordon and Delph both deserve a start for putting a shift in last week. Dont think this is the game to break up your centre half pairing - altough we have been shiping goals and same as last week, if we are going to win, it needs a clean sheet as there are few goals in this team with the absentees. Mina´s position is in danger medium term.

I would go
Kamikaze

Kenny (if fit) Keane Mina NK

Allan Gomes Doucoure Delph

Gordon

DCL

subs - Swedish Kamikaaze / Godfrey / Sigurdsson / Iwobi / Bernard / Simms / Skatie

Freedom for the fullbacks to attack as they have cover sitting in front of them. Not a lover of Gomes but none of the axis of dirge Sigurdsson / Iwobi / Bernard deserve a start.

Big game for Gomes this. If he fails to show again, he is starting to cement his position in the Siggy / I wobi / Bernard axis of dung.

Think we're struggling to have much choice tbh. I'd like to see gordon, but would he play him with Nkounkou making his debut/Godfrey making his second start?

Kenny has been out for a while are we just going to chuck him straight in? Even he's barely started many prem games.

Like i said, our options are a bit bleak
He seems to really rate Gordon and he played both CC games with Niels. Also, if Kenny is fit, he starts, Godfrey would get destroyed by saint maximan or whetever his name is

Win and we are top of the league. Lose and we could be fifth by the end of the weekend. Sheer determination and will to win should be enough to beat an average to poor quality Newcastle side when we have that much riding on it.

Actually really like the idea of a 5-3-2 with Kenny and Nkounkou providing the width. Play Gordon behind DCL and our normal midfield 3.

I think if we do that then Gordon has to be alongside him, or we just have what we had on Saturday and DCL with two markers and the ball keeping coming back.

Fair point. Either way, get Gordon running full pelt at their centre backs. Defenders hate it and we don’t do anywhere near enough of it. He beats men and breaks the lines, think he should feature far more often.

Hang on. This can’t be real?

I must be reading the Newcastle thread from the Fat Sam era.

I'd like to see this if only for one week.

Pickford
Keane Mina Branthwaite
Kenny Doucoure Alan Bernard Nkounkou
DCL Simms
I would play Docure between Allan and
Pickford

Godfrey. Kean. Mina

Kenny. Doucoure Allan. Gomes. Nkounkou

Gordon

Calvert Lewin

This would be my starting 11 tomorrow but Carlo knows best
I would play Doucoure between Allan and Gomes as he's more attacking and advancing. Thus, Allan and Gomes can close in behind for cover especially when Kenny and Nko or Delph accompany in attacks.
Godfrey. Keane. Mina
Allan. Gomes
Kenny Doucoure. Nkonkou

My only fear is Kenny might be all over the place having to deal with St Max! He's not the most stable when it comes to positioning.
