Simms is not going to be used unless we really are down to the last legs - that's the view of the club.

Tosun is being used as third-choice but he isn't fit.

Regardless, we needed a 'forward' - not particularly a CF. We needed a player to play in any of the three roles up front and give us a potent threat, even if not the same threat as Richarlison/James.

It's about mitigating risk in a season which has more risk due to fixture congestion (including daft international breaks of three games) and COVID.

We didn't mitigate that risk, and it could be seen a mile off.
Spot on we are desperate for another threat. It was a risk to not bring another player with pace who can play across the front line and we are seeing it now with Richy out. Iwobi is not good enough.

My apologies if this is not the right place to be asking this question, but would a possible national lockdown affect Manchester's United match?

There no indication that football will stop this time around.

Not unless cases rose massively.

The players and staff are tested a LOT, so I doubt it, but of course this could change.

IMO, keep it tight and start somethin like....

Pickford

Kenny Mina Keane Nkounkou

Gomes

Allan Doucoure Delph

Sigurdsson

DCL

They are mostly a big strong side so I reckon if we can match them in that part of the game our superior technique will payoff in the end. Use Gomes in the deep playmaker role to help control possession. its also possible we plan allan as the deepest DM and play tom davies rcm. We need the experience of Delph and Allan to help JJK and Niles K. Later in the game bring In Gordon an maybe Bernard..

I don't think Ancelotti will change too much from the team he went with against southampton. He will of course have to swap james and find a replacement and a system he think will compensate for the loss of James.

I feel too much negativity has been attached to iwobi and sigurdsson following that defeat and much of it unwarranted. It was a tough game going into it against Southampton and looked very much a 50/50 before kick off. We started that game ok and for the first 20 mins or so probably edged it. They then raised their game to a very high level for the next 20 mins and at 2 nil it was game over I felt with is being without richy and Seamus.

This next game is a totally different kind of game to that and it's not one where we want to just drop players based on that last game. We need to play the best eleven currently available and I feel that does include siggy and iwobi.

We need to focus on not conceding first and foremost and look to pick up free kicks in and around their area. Particularly without james and the regular full backs it's going to be hard to break them down so our best chance is using our aerial ability but keeping very tight to avoid a situation where we are chasing the game because we just have to many injuries to key men to have a realistic chance of turning a losing position around.

I am even more anxious for this match than before. This might be one of those gutsy wins you need to achieve your goal.

1 0 would be nice
