Get signing. This man is so in the pockets of the CCP, that his corruption and incompetence has led to the situation that we all find ourselves in. Hopefully, if enough sign, he'll realise that his position is untenable so he can no longer do any further damage.

Hope you and your loved ones are well.

What's increasingly becoming apparent to me, as you climb down the rabbit hole, is that the Chinese Government literally incarcerated the population of Wuhan. To stop it's spread. There's a very good chance it worked. Whether such extreme methods would be acceptable to the West is unlikely.

Faced with that, governments might have made the decision to allow the virus "in" to develop "herd immunity". I don't agree with that but faced with the alternatives, I can understand the reasoning.

From an anecdotal perspective my dad said, who is 78, if I get it I die. His sister, my aunt, we found out is now in isolation. So effectively he echoed the words of the Texas official who stated life must go on and shrugged.

The conveyor belt of tragedy, bad news and horror looks likely to continue. It's going to get worse before it get's better. There is still a chance however via social distancing, staying at home, following government guidelines. That the imminent disastrous effects can be minimized.

The folks here on GoT already seem to be aware of these dangers. What I would suggest is that, we all make a concerted effort to let individuals who break measures designed for the benefit of public health aware and ultimately self-police.

That's not something I would suggest lightly and I'm fully aware of the ramifications. But faced with being forcibly incarcerated or allowing individuals to flagrantly jeopardize the health of the larger community. There's only one solution.

The health of society outweighs the concerns of the individual. I'm convinced the US Supreme Court agrees and it applies to Europe as well.

I live in prime seagull nesting territory in Liverpool (I'm in a flat, not a nest) and the seagulls are already going wild as if they are onto something being afoot. They usually don't start screaming like they are till into May and June but having returned there is just no food around for them. They'll be attacking cats soon to give their chicks some dinner.

This is it. We make people fill out a form and promise to go home. More needs to be done but I personally feel that it's too little too late for places like the UK and US, especially New York. 14 day incubation period. We havent even felt the spike from the plebs who went for one last booze up yet.

You're spot on there. The spring breakers, the folks who went to the pub over the weekend etc...Unfortunately the damage has been done. And quite frankly it might have been averted far earlier if it wasn't for inaction.

However, we can stop now. And this is the crux. Authoritarian regimes distrust their populace. We live in liberal democracies or republics. That allows for a greater degree of trust and freedom for the citizenship.

And what I mean here is personal responsibility it doesn't come without sacrifices. Our systems of government has been earned through sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears. The least we can do as the recipients, is show we can uphold the system that our ancestors fought for.

There's more here at stake than folks getting sick. This is a test of our systems of government. It's a test that we simply can't afford to lose.

Morning all. Hope everyone is well and safe. Quick update, my nephew definitely hasn't got corona, his xrays were clear and they sent him home because the hospital was full. So he has no idea what was up with him other than it's not the virus.

Over the winter, we've had roughly between 2500 and 1500 deaths per week due to all respiratory diseases*, with the numbers recently tailing off as you'd expect as we come out of winter.

We've had ~ 400 COVID-19 related deaths, and rising, in the last two weeks.

Anyone trying to convince themselves that people have been dying for months in the UK because of COVID-19 is kidding themselves.

Theoretically possible ? Just about, but it would take an amazing combination of things for it to be so.

Is it probable ? Absolutely not.

Except for this, by 19th of December there was 8 times more flu cases this flu season compared to last season, there were over 2000 in ICU compared to 256 is it possible that an unknown disease with very similar symptoms to flu was diagnosed as flu? 8 times more cases of flu is an incredible difference. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...cases-EIGHT-TIMES-higher-point-UK-winter.html
