UEFA have several member states that don't align August - May. Wouldn't be a problem.

Our transfer window ends weeks before the rest of Europe too, so there would no some latitude afforded there, as there is with others.
Transfer window is back to normal, september 1st this year with been bank holiday-well it is till they may change it who knows.

Disgusting behaviour from @matty1878 this

I'm more concerned about the health and well being of elderly people in my family and what state the economy is going to be in a few months.

He is getting depressed at the thought of Liverpool been handed the premier league trophy.

Lets be honest I'm not bothered about football at the minute and they have won it this season when you think about it.

Honestly @matty1878 hoping for the continuation of a dreadful society-defining virus just so he can post hateful content is one of the worst things I've seen on here since the days of @Darkhorse

Absolute farce that, pandering to the RS, and their financial overlords
To be fair , I don't see what else they could do.

It is a holding statement only. It is too early to make any definite decisions and as we all can see the situation is evolving on an hourly basis.
We all know that it is likely the illness will not have peaked by the end of April never mind sport starting to resume.
Talking to a doctor friend of mine today who said that they are being told that it could be August before they feel the illness is under control and obviously there will be a number of weeks again after that before they will allow businesses to reopen and sport to restart.

They will have to be ultra careful and I can't see grounds full of 40000 fans anytime soon.

Next September, October will there be an urgency to complete season 19/20 ?
Will anybody care about football if this illness proves to be as drastic and fatal as the worst case predictions?

Fine but what is your government doing with regard to financial support for business, individuals etc?
Implement a payment break up to three months for business and personal customers affected by Covid-19, to be followed by ongoing reviews depending on the scale and extent of the situation. Customers wishing to avail of a payment break should contact their respective bank.
2. The banks agree there is a need for a simplified application process to make it as easy as possible for businesses and personal customers impacted by Covid-19 to receive support from their banks. We are working with all member banks to achieve this.
3. The banks want to ensure that any Covid-19 application for a payment break and further reviews will not adversely impact the customer's credit record, and the banks reporting of these facilities. Banks want to avoid this and are meeting with the Central Bank of Ireland to urgently achieve a solution in this regard.
4. Banks will also defer court proceedings for three months.
5. The banking system stands ready to provide working capital support.
6. We have had initial discussions with Credit Servicing Firms and with those non-bank lenders who provide mortgages. Both the Credit Servicing Firms and non-bank lenders have issues which we need to address with the Central Bank of Ireland, but both are committed to working with the Government and industry to provide the flexibility that people need right now.
On top of that if you are sent home to self isolate you get a payment of 305 euro
Your employer pays you and the government reimburses them
3 month ban on evictions
If you not paying your rent causes your landlord issues then the banks will suspend the landlords payments
No business will be allowed to fail

I think there's a strong possibility we'll see a cancellation of most fixtures in the International calendar, particularly non-competitive ones. The club Football schedule will need to be prioritised to ensure that next season starts and finishes within a reasonable time frame, if they cancel most international breaks throughout the season, that will allow for more club games to be played.

However, as has been said multiple times, this current season is just as important as the next, which is why the PL and other leagues are prioritising finishing the leagues when it's safe to do so.
Only on RAWK and sky news
With very few exceptions (yes @havrey0123 and @radiostar ,I am looking at you )no one here gives a toss

It's also not really about whats as important. It's about what minimises the financial damage. Something being subjectively important as a concept is not going to pay rents, mortgages, put food on the table, saves jobs, create new jobs, help with the charity work thats done etc.

If the choice becomes a 9 game season or a 38 game season, which do you think broadcasters, clubs, agents, players, associations, stewards, food banks, pubs etc are going to opt for?

That is where we are heading too. I've seen events banned last week in early May. There's enormous pressure to cancel the Olympics, in July, in a country nowhere near as effected as this. At some point the focus is going to start switching to prevent what is a very difficult situation becoming a armageddon situation with further seasons affected.

Even on a practical level, if we run over June, when are we going to playing next season on a tight turnaround?

They can't force a player to play beyond what he's signed on for. It's illegal. It's the basis of what a contract is for - employment for a set period of time.
If Pedro Willian or Giroud sign for another club for next season their new club wont be happy with them togging out for chelsea in July
