He was fine with potential to be really good.

He got us circa £50M because the best manager in the World at the time and the richest club in the World thought he was more than potential. I did too, and still do.

Cast-offs from CL sides are just poison to us, have to be avoided at all costs (and I loved watching Stones play here). Burdens us with clock-watchers and lead swingers who are hungry for nothing but wages.

There's the odd singular case where a player hasn't succeeded somewhere good, and burns with the fire to prove everyone wrong. But for every one of them there's 99 deadbeats who'd happily swing off our teats for years.

Stones has been very injury prone, as well, which is a massive reason to swerve regardless of where he is in his career.

Holding midfielder seeing as we only have one footballer in that area of the pitch.
Stones can play football for sure, but not a world class defender.

Then again, still an upgrade on Mina and Keane in my humble opinion.
