Club Statement: Coronavirus

If they scrap the Euro's and Olympics then they might be able to squeeze it in

What would need to happen though is that the PFA and LMA would have to get it's members to agree for contracts to be frozen momentarily so that clubs who have players at the end of their deals don't get shafted by those players leaving
but there will be players and clubs who are waiting/wanting contracts to expire, so some will be retained and some not, its a mess and whatever solution is decided upon will be a mess. The cleanest solution is to call it off, possibly cancel the euros and try to start with a clean slate in august. If the RS get awarded the league, so be it. They could even have a special trophy made up, as they only completed 70% of the games, they get a trophy 70% of the original.

This is going to get worse before it get's better. Football may become an irrelevance for people. None of it matters when people in your community, loved one's, friends start getting sick. When it starts to hit home, differences, party loyalties will dissipate. Wherever you live, don't wait for a government statement. Be pro-active and protect your family and those closest to you.

Honestly at this stage, football should be the least of your concerns. I sincerely hope everybody who posts here and your friends and family stay well. And when this is all cleared we can get back to the banter.

The Qatar World Cup was going ahead in Winter 2022 anyway, you do realise this? Before Coronavirus, the sporting calendar was going to alter. It had to.

So either, they play the World Cup mid-season (which doesn't really suit anyone) or they alter the start and end dates of a couple of seasons before and a couple of seasons after.

You say 'Void' a season like it's an easy and obvious thing to do, it's laughable. Billions of pounds have been spent on sponsorship money, tickets, TV rights etc for a 38 game season. To move the season by 8-12 weeks for the sake of public safety, to allow that to continue as normal is much much easier than the alternative you're suggesting. It's a non-starter.

Dont dream ...It's over!
