then players have to get fit again...you cant just start it all up again straight away surely?

Yeah, if only these multi-millionaires with 5 acre properties, indoor heated swimming pools and home gyms could stay fit in self-isolation.
 
If they scrap the Euro's and Olympics then they might be able to squeeze it in

What would need to happen though is that the PFA and LMA would have to get it's members to agree for contracts to be frozen momentarily so that clubs who have players at the end of their deals don't get shafted by those players leaving

They need to bin the lot mate
 

As stated above, player contracts are key here. Take Tranmere for example, who seem to have given themselves a shot at staying up through loan signings. Most of them will end at the scheduled end of the season around May.
They would lose these players and probably some of their contracted players as well as a result of the season extension. Just extending into the Summer isn't feasible.
 

Of course, why do we bother with training and pre-season when the lads could just spend Monday-Friday in the gym and then turn up and play at the weekend?

Training is for sharpness and drills for most players. Fitness is the responsibility of the player.
