I think it was the wrong sub given the context of the game (which is on Duncan imo), but all of this. Either Duncan was taking a blind leap of faith with the lad or he thought Kean was more prepared than this. I’d bet on the latter
Dunc acknowledges there was change in plans which accounts for some the confusion

Hopefully Duncan talks to Moise tomorrow away from others and they can start anew on a more positive footing.

kean must be given a chance to redeem himself. Starting against Leicester will be a perfect man management move to end this saga once and for all and never let it linger around in the dressing room.

Would like to think Dunc plays him against Leicester, and says too him “Go and prove me wrong and make me look like a bad tit”

Starting him against Leicester would be a perfect way to end our chances in the cup!

Regardless of the reasons why the lad looked exhausted after 10 mins against a United team that had played 80 - trying to play against a fresh Leicester team known for their workrate would be disastrous for both Everton and any remaining Kean confidence.

He’s already given the explanation, if you believe it.

He said he didn’t have anything against Kean and just wanted to use a sub to waste time - if that was the case then there was at least 3 other players more suitable than Kean to do that.

If that was the case, he would have consoled Kean coming off the pitch.

Instead, he’s played it down to try and retain as much of Kean’s value.
I watched it in a boozer without commentary, i would agree he should have made a big effort with coming off, just looked really bad to me. Especially as he hadnt done anything wrong from what i could see. I don't know, long term that can't have a good effect on a youngster low on confidence

He's done the sum total of diddlysquat to earn a start.
