"Everton DNA" has gotten us into this mess.

The board should only be asking three questions:

i) does the candidate have a history of winning things, especially football matches
ii) do the teams that the candidate is responsible for display snide, nasty or otherwise ruthless ambition at winning things
iii) would we expect a Champions League club to come in for him within a year

if the answer isn't yes to all three, show the candidate the door

All this is true mate but not many serial winners would want to take up the Everton job if they can find another job with clubs who have shown proven ambition to win with a system in place.

If Moshiri had taken over during Moyes' last season then we could have convinced a top manager to come in as the club would have reflected a stable image. Now its an utter mess.

Serial winners can walk into the wrong situation and fail. A lot should go into the thought of hiring a manager - not just looking at one of: "Everton DNA", playing style, win %, etc.

River Plate Manager
Argentina Superliga
Appointed: Jun 6, 2014
Contract until: 31.12.2021

Of course its not always 100% correct.

It’s probably more correct than the rag I read it in. It stated that he’s been on an annual rolling contract, and as it’s the end of the season he'd be free. Quite easily could be guff though.

The question has to be asked, why did our players have that extra step, that desire to win the 50/50 today? We saw it with Unsworth against West Ham and now today. It's unacceptable that our previous managers couldn't produce consistent, committed displays.

Any manager who takes over the club has to produce that, at a bare minimum and then add a wee bit of flair and guile. The previous managers had the philosophy but without the aggressive commitment. Martinez,, Koeman, Silva, I always got the impression, even though they claimed they had a philosophy, they lacked passion.

A will to win even if it does upset apple carts and put noses out of joint.

Probably because players are just like normal humans and there can be multiple reasons - you prefer the new manager to the old one, you want to impress a different boss, the new bloke has new ideas you are excited to try or more enthusiasm or just the simple one of a change can sometimes be as good as a rest.

The new manager bounce is a pretty well documented phenomenon after all across clubs and seasons.
