Bily on the right

Bily was good yesterday, and anyone giving him stick clearly doesn't understand football. He offered his teammates a lot, and although he didn't score a 30 yard screamer, his input was quite important.

However he should never play at RM. Coleman is amazing there. Bily deserves a shot centrally I feel, although with time maybe he could make the left his own (seeing as Pienaar's off).

Yeah this ... I wasn't generally advocating him to play on the right as Seamus Ramos has made it his one and saved us 11 mill in thr process. I just reckon needs more of a chance in the side. The kid is quality great left foot decent right foot. My other point is that Kevin Sheedy wouldn't last 2 mins with sections of our crowd nowadays !!

His FAV' analogy at present .

No less RIGHT for that , though ,...

I used to give it to sheedy, didn't score a free kick for 4 years, never tracked back, strolled around the place like he was in slippers yetr when he had the green on he was up and at 'em. When he tried to engineer a move to Celtic I turned against him, he wanted to use the euro's to get his 'dream move' 'cept he got injured, didn't go and had to come back to us.

Bet you never gave it to him , semi finals or Rotterdam hey reidy ? Still he was a lazy **** but what a left foot and priceless for us ! My point is let's support Bily and get behind Beckford ! 3 years down the line if he's still ****e then fair do's but let's at least give the kid a chance !!

Okay, don't hate me people, but so far I'm not seeing all the Bily (fine, one L!) love, kinda like toffeestillidie said at the start.

That's purely because I haven't seen him in previous seasons so don't have the history with the kid that you guys do.

I only have a few spare minutes to judge him on based on previous games, so today I was like, okay, I'm going to see the kid that everyone's raving about!

I expect someone who is a perennial benchwarmer to come on and grab the start by the horns. Coleman has done this 732%. Rodwell typically does this. Hell, Beckford has managed to do this (though I'd say more at 150% compared to Coleman's 732%). I thought Bily today was okay. I definitely do NOT think he "stunk up the place" - he was solid. But the rest of the team was so good and so well paced that he just stood out a bit (along with Anichebe, but that's covered elsewhere).

Now I hear all of you - he's rusty for sure due to lack of game time, he may be micromanaged... But for a watcher who is coming in new, I wasn't overly impressed. Not enough hustle going forward (though defensively, he did a nice job there), not enough attacking prowess, had a tendency to come towards the middle instead of staying out wide (I get that's his natural position).

Don't hate me (I know you love him Damon & LCAB)! Just putting my two cents out there as someone who really hasn't seen him in the past. I'm not slamming the guy, just giving a new fan's perspective. So far, he's not cracking my starting XI.

Kay, you beat me to it. I was going to come on here and say sort of the same thing this morning, even if it meant risking the wrath of LCAB. :)

Bily is not bad, but he just doesn't impress me except for the occasional super strike. He just seems to be a little off the pace. I don't get the same feeling from watching him as I do the rest of the team. They are up to EPL standards, with Beckford growing by leaps and bounds, but Bily just seems slightly below them. Beckford especially is impressive, and he's gotten to play about as much as Bily has and he's seized the moment.

In the game thread, I mentioned Bily seemed slower and most disagreed and that's fine. I don't want to throw off on him. He looks like he's trying, he looks like he wants to be there, but he just seems a little below the standard (except, of course, that wicked ability to strike the ball that he has), but the rest of his game just seems substandard to the rest of the team, slow of thought, slow of foot and not up to the physicality.

However....I will remain open minded about him because after all, LCAB thinks he had a great game and is gonna be awesome...and I respect LCAB's opinions on all things and I know for a fact LCAB knows more about the game than I ever will.

So come on, Bily...wow me.

I didn't no, but then that was before he started strolling around and saving himself for Irelands games, and that cultured left peg ? as I say he didn't score a free kick for years, very Roberto Carlos.

It used to wind me up bad style, to the point that I saw him as a weak link due to his jogging back when he could've put a tackle in, espesh when as I say he was only too happy to do it for Ireland.

Physically nor mentally up to the English game. He's certainly got ability and had one of his better performances yesterday but he only shows flashes. I think we may need to cut our losses because it will benefit everyone.

Strong disagree.

Physically up to it, mental is not quite there but will come with games. He looks like a naturally hesitant guy who needs to calm down a bit and that will come with steady playing time and the confidence that brings.

He isn't up to it physically. He doesn't have the stamina, mobility or strength. He won't be a success at Everton. He shows flashes of ability and I do like him as he's got a nice footballing brain but it will benefit him and the club if we move him on.
