That's the thing I don't understand, is the decision to use VAR up to the ref, or does the ref get a word in his earpiece that something should be looked at?

Well that's the second time in as many games against spurs we've been shafted by someone making a decision in a secret bunker! The FA want a new PL winner and seeing as your RS neighbours and Tottenham haven't won the league for close on 90 years between them, it's looking like the FA are desperate to deny them. I take it the VAR decision maker was probably having a ham shank in the bog over the readers wives page in Fiesta not to see Rhodri denied a pen.

I was at the game and when Jesus scored we went mental. A minute later spurs fans went mental and started taunting us. The stewards looked worried as it nearly kicked off with us and them.

VAR needs to become clear as to what is going on as it's killing the game and enjoyment of celebrating a goal.

Actual loud chuckles at the suggestion that the most moneyed members of the big boys club are not wanted to win the Premier League. Genuinely hope I City fans in tears over VAR this regularly.

Are you saying you wouldn't taunt Liverpool or Man U if the same thing happened in your favour against them?
Of course you would.

I have seen posts on Blue Moon defending attacking and spitting on Spurs scarfers after the game because they were winding you up. Shameful.

And the conspiracy theories on there are embarrassing.

De Gea made 14 saves against Spurs last season at ours and we lost 1-0 despite them not having a sniff in the game.

It's clear how var can be and will be misused by the authorities, therefore all it does practically in a game is sap exhilaration out of scoring a goal. I was for it but not now, not in this form.

Sad to say I think you're right. The sport is now a scripted entertainment, money dominates every decision at every level. There's little romance left. Var will not solve corruption or they wouldn't allow it.

After years as a coach, years playing, years followong intently, my interest in pro football has diminished over the last 15 years and is now practically zero. I follow Everton's results only and pay little attention to others. It simply isn't the basic simple accessible sport I fell in love with.

And they can f right off with those stupid flame jets we've imported to generate excitement.... as if we don't waste enough fossil fuels ffs. Razzmatazz has no place in sport.

VAR is good for the game - however it should only ever have been brought in to review penalty calls and potential red card challenges / off the ball incidents.

I wasn’t anti-City, my first ever game was at Maine Road, used to go a lot with a lot of friends who were City fans. I’m massively against City’s owners and the grim hand in hand with a supposedly Labour Manchester City Council. City are the Tory club now.

You make a good point on us taunting rival fans, and you are right, many would and will. That is football banter and rivalry. I don't condone any Citeh fans spitting at rival fans and vice versa, and I try not to be a conspiracy theorist, but with VAR now, just seems the FA and PL want a new PL winner this season.

I'm falling out of love with the game I've been watching almost 50 years. Celebrating a goal should speak a spontaneous eruption of emotions, but it's not anymore for fear of farcial goals being chalked off the board.

Just been talking to my lad about it, he reckons that those doing VAR look at all the incidents in the parameters, so if the ref awards a penalty VAR will still look at it and overrule if needs be.
