Just got both Red Dead Redemption 2, and Battlefied V for £30 on that Game.co.uk offer.

I had no patience for the dull as dishwater first outing when it arrived, lets hope its a little more enjoyable now. I have loved all the battlefield games, so no problems there.

In all seriousness, should be able to replace me guts for about $650 and should be a nice bump from this i5 2500k that's still chuggin' along. If yer kid needs some new guts and that'd be an upgrade, I can pass them along. Probably cost more to ship the stuff than it's actual worth. Last Everton book I bought from deCoubertin was like $4 more than the actual shipping to get it across the pond.

Memory (all over the f'in place...gonna' be the trickiest purchase)

It works and it’s very simple.

The only issue is there’s a very slight lag which got me spinning out on corners in GT Sport but the download speed at my folks’ house is only 11mbps with less than 1mbps upload speed so perhaps that has something to do with it. It’s playable though.

Aye, that's why I'm only looking right now...after release, prices should drop a bit more. I don't ever buy on release, the markup's too stupid and the bump in performance is, more often than not, negligible...at least in the CPU market.

Have you read the news? There is a huge bump in the IPC, and the 3000 are coming in priced right at the same levels as the outgoing 2000 series.

Get a 3000 series. Even the 3600 is matching the i9-9900k on single core performance and beating it on multi-thread. And that is from a $200 USD processor. 6 cores, 12 threads all on a 65W TDP. It is some impressive performance.
