1995-2020 = the longest barren spell without silverware in Everton's history

Bought by a man with endless cash when FFP didn't matter. Regardless of if usmanov is involved or not, we cant do what they did. We just don't win enough big games to do it. Closest we've got was in 09 when we go up after 30 seconds and then bottle it.

I’m sick of not winning anything to mate, but I woudnt swap who I support for anything. Our time will come

Maybe we will.

We hadn't been helped before this trophyless period, it's true. But the ban of the 80s and Collina doesn't explain the colossal failure of the hierarchy of this organisation to find game changing investment and build a stadium. It doesn't explain why an absolute fortune has come into the club and we are where we are.

The answer is mostly to be found inside the club not outside it...as tempting as it is to blame that unspeakable scum from across the park and UEFA.

It's not looking for others to blame but I think it is important to realise all the factors at play. I agree with much of what you say and I think we also need to appreciate (in the broadest sense of the word) that The Board, for all their failures, have not allowed us to descend to Blackburn or Leeds sort of levels...

The cheering when he came up on screen at Goodison in the midst of the blue union protests was the low point for me.

It said so much tho. He was put on the screen immediately after we had just taken the lead against Aston Villa. Had we gone 1-0 down and he was put on the screen, then the reaction wouldn't have been the same, there wouldnt have been the 'warm applause' that took place.

The conclusion is that many Evertonians are very easily pleased as long as we aren't in danger of being relegated, and are happy with making the numbers up in the league. If it wasn't for the RS' success, I think our drive and ambition would be even lower than what it is.

The board had us dancing on the trap door twice in the 1990s.

As far as B'burn and Leeds are concerned (and you can add Villa to that), there was an attempt to make the leap into the elite and stay there. They were playing with fire because they just didn't have the cash to sustain it and stick with it, as Chelsea and City were. The Villa, Leeds, B'burn model is not one I advocated. I recognise their intentions though.

We have been through an era whereby hundreds of millions of pounds have come into the club and none of it has been used to part fund a stadium with partners. It is a criminal act of negligence that at the very least that during the financial boom period this club is still struggling to get other parties to pay for a stadium for it.

Dave, you continually bang this drum. Name me one club on the planet that has paid for a stadium, upfront, on their own.

You're still alive after last night!!! And not only that, you of all people have actually said something positive today.

That's akin to Kompany scoring the winner v Leicester when all the talk was about (the very anonymous) Vardy tearing him a new one. :D

In the 80s when our rivals won the league the Everton board knew we had to respond. It wasn't acceptable to have that lot winning trophies without us attempting to ruin the party. It was a time of economic strife for many in the city and therefore having both rivals battling it out lifted morale for a lot of people. With Brexit round the corner and the possibility of a period of instability I hope our board can see how important it will be going forward to put every last penny and ambition into giving them lot something to think about. Sadly I worry the gap is too much these days and the will is simply not present to compete. 7th will do eh. Cheers.

I’m in Hibernation mate lol no news channels no sky sports nothing ;)

The difference as far as I can see is the fans, when Liverpool are not performing well the fans get right behind them and give the team a lift and they get through it.. when we are not preforming well we moan and boo and the players respond in a negative way.. I've seen Everton fans having a laugh at Liverpool fans for the banners they've made and call it kopite behavior and embarrassing... well they have just won the champions league and we are here discussing a record drought for silverware.. tell me which is embarrassing.
Well I was at Anfield for the Derby game, lots of them never got behind them in that match, they were streaming out with ten minutes to go ( not counting the added on time ) and hurling abuse at the pitch as they were going, they nearly caused a panic accident as hundreds of them tried to get back up the stairs when they heard the roars acclaiming Pickfords goal.

Ill just restate what I said in the other thread, since John Moores left there has been no vision,we went from being innovators, aggresive and ruthless to becoming a part of the also rans, when the Taylor report was published other teams knocked stands down and rebuilt,we stuck seats on terraces and wax lyrically about "the grand old lady",look at the teams who built new grounds, teams that we used to dwarf, even the plans for a new stadium leave us with the 4th biggest ground in a 30 mile radius,we had a fan base that actually voted to move to a larger DW stadium in Kirkby then point the finger at fans who opposed it,the local media gave Leahy a double page spread about the benefits and Dominic King actually said we should be looking at COVENTRY as an inspiration
When Dominic King was writing Everton articles in The Liverpool Echo he was in fact a keen Liverpool supporter and could have on a wind up !!!

I know hes rs mate,it was narrative in the rag, double page speech by Leahy, more coverage of how great the move would be than any coverage of a trophy win,the whole charade by the local media to paint a picture of Utopia, never questioning the complete rip off of "free land"

While Everton had Moyes, Tim Cahill and another player telling us the same thing.
