*campaigns for East Coast defenses against a potential British invasion
Too late mate you missed it, The Beatles and all the other groups, both local and national, invaded, conquered and burnt you musical white house down before leaving. You did send us little jimmy osmand though, so if we call that your battle of new orleans then that makes it 1-1.

But we are one of the three main paymasters at the moment. We are just disposing of influence by bowing out

...
What are you on about. I voted to enter the EEC, I voted to leave the EU. They are two completely different entities. One was economic and one is now Political. No one voted to enter a political union.....now what’s all this fear mongering of which you speak.....
Some trees getting in the way of the wood here. The EU is run for the benefit of the EU, which mainly means France and Germany. French Nationalism and National interest as an unofficial / official french policy is always there, always was and always will be...its the whole raison d'etre (throws in bit of frog lingo to show being one with the europa thing really) of the french and by extension All National Governments plus the governing clique. Which brings us right back to the whole reason for the EU.
Well have to agree to differ, brexit'll probably happen, lets wait and see just where the law of unintended consequences leads us.

The problem with Labour backing a 2nd referendum is Corbyn. He obviously wants to avoid it because he knows if he backs it he won’t be able to win a general election.
The problem is time, we can extend article 50 but theres MEP elections in May and the EU budget for the next term after that, in that time there would need to be enough MP's to vote for a second ref (no where near that atm and even if Corbyn backs it, it might not be enough with Labour leavers and Tory marginal seat remainers), the required legislation would need to be rushed through, the question on the paper to be agreed by all sides, and then a few months to campaign and hold to referendum, all seems impossible now

They supplied technical assistance to get launchers working, against government policy. That’s just a matter of fact.....
Is that a yes, they did supply Exocets during the Falklands conflict, or no they did not supply Exocets during the conflict, as this is what I asked, as a matter of fact. Yes or no, and no squirming. Answer the question.

None of the land-based Exocets were used in that war Pete, they were all the air-launched version (and the fact that Argentina had to go to the international market to buy some proved that the French were not supplying them).

edit: sorry, two of the land-based ones were fired

.....there is an understandable call from many MPs for them to discuss other Brexit options in an effort to see if there’s a cross-party majority for a particular solution.

I really don’t know why the options aren’t put together in a database where MPs can post their what solutions they would support. Seems straightforward and logical to me.

Or have a bunch of options and let the public choose? Those who are still working and contributing to society anyway. The retired can relax and let us sort it out for them.

....much easier to manage an MP vote and it’s them that will have to deliver it.

Anyway, us oldies still contribute to society. Cheek. Mrs Eggs and I live on private pension and pay our taxes.

I don't need to look up 'self-determination'. That's because the people of Ireland expressed their wish for it in the 1918 General Election but were refused and unfortunately had to take up arms instead.

Its far too easy when you have colonised somewhere in the world with your own people to then claim that they are entitled to 'self-determination', irrespective of its geography.

Ah, comparing a situation now with one literally 101 years ago.

Yeah, that makes sense.

The Falklands isn't a "colony" - the people there have been born there, many have lineage there over generations and have recently quite literally chosen to stay with us. We haven't forced them to.

These are facts. Your nationalist bias doesn't change them.
