Irrelevant to the point isn't it. I'm not saying it means he'll do well here, but it doesn't help the argument if you start denigrating what was clearly a good performance in order to further your point, because it makes it look like you've just got an issue with him rather than reservations about his managerial ability.
Relegation being described as a good performance. Jesus Christ.

Off topic, but is that worth watching?

Yes. I’m watching it now.
Not as fly on the wall as some previous footy docs but makes you realise just how much fans getting on the backs of players, managers and the club itself has a demoralising effect on performances and results.

Everton could quite easily be the next Sunderland.

Its painful reading really, since DoomsDay at Anfield we have played 10 games and we have 2 wins and exited the FA Cup.

The 10 games before that we picked up 5 wins and exited the League Cup.

The fella needs to start picking up some Ws, ive calmed down a little since the weekend, im willing to give him some time, but hes gotta start showing me something, anything. Im still rooting for you Marco, show me a SIGN.

don't do it to yourself mate

the photo comparison of silva the day he signed and after the defeat at millwall was enough for me.

hes mentally cooked

chuck him straight in the bin, as he is very very over done

This is the problem in a nutshell.

Zonal is a symptom of it. The players can't do it - "I've got to stick to my zone; it doesn't matter that nobody is in it and three players are in another persons zone - this zone is my responsibility."
Surely sometimes the players have take the initiative!!! You react to what’s in front of you, in certain situations you have to fcuk what the managers tells/wants you to do if you can see a big danger! Surely???

Who knows were we go from here?
Just being tossed about on a relentless ocean with no lighthouse in sight.
My personal opinion is Silva hasn't got long at this job he just isn't communicating with his players and morale is at a all time low. Zonal Marking is a joke and we could be beat by lesser talent at any time.

The players in that photo have not followed zonal marking.

There are four players at the back post. Only one - max two - should be in that zone. Digne is the only player in that photo who is marking his zone, and even he has been dragged in.

I'm not saying it's not an issue - it is - but the players are as much at fault. They can't man mark either. We know that.
Yeah, you'd never see that in a zonal system. Several players really screwed up.

To be fair there is a bit of revisionism about how his season at Hull ended. He had safety within their hands with 3 games to go, they then lost 2-0 to relegated Sunderland at home, 4-0 to Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace and then 7-1 at home to Spurs and went down. Not great like.
Hull would've had him back in a heartbeat.

Hulls manager was Phelan.

They had 8 starting players in the 1st team squad in preseason, heres their ENTIRE SQUAD

GK Jakupovic
RB Elmohamady
CB Maguire
CB Davies
CB Livermore
LB Robertson
CM Huddlestone
CM Clucas
CM Meylor
MF Maloney
FW Snodgrass
FW Hernandes
FW Diomande

Imagine that with Mike Phelan as manager.

Silva took over and everyone raved about him with the focal.point of his attack...Niasse.

Correct

Even I couldnt have done better.
So he took a better group of players* than we have now and was relegated. Yikes!

*Not sure if this is actually a joke with the way our mob are playing currently.

Sounds like a text Moshiri has just sent to BK.

Isn't that exactly the point - that they can't do it?

It's like trying to build a flatpack with a spoon, and instead of getting a screwdriver, persisting with the bloody spoon.

If Silva was pragmatic, he ditches it for man to man and gets back to basics until he has the players to do it. I don't buy the argument that persisting highlights the weakness, because if he doesn't know it's a weakness by now he's braindead.

If he wants to defend a certain way, bring the players in in the summer to do it - until then, given you know what the issue is, temporarily fix the issue until you can permanently fix it later.

It's called management.

But they can't do man to man either... haven't most of them proved that over the past two seasons?

Btw, I'm not saying he shouldn't adjust and adapt, I've actually said as much myself, but I think there's other areas that are more down to the manager, whereas I think the zonal marking thing is actually more players completely switching off.
