They may have improved but we can only worry about ourselves pal. We are in a mini league with the likes of Watford, Bournemouth, Wolves and West Ham we are all going to have ups and downs in my view. If we get that clinical finisher I think we will be ok this season 7-10th finish is my prediction but crucially playing football that can take us forward long term.
My prediction was 7th at the start, been not to far from 6th at present we have a little chance, but for me,to many expect us to be higher up faster than what we can achieve [dont mean 6th either,i mean higher],results v the teams that come and defend v us are the ones we have to beat

I don't think it's all that bad.We had chances to score but we didn't take them.At the moment we are too reliant on Sigurdsson and Richarlison for an attacking threat. Both Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert Lewin for strikers, just don't score enough goals, although to be fair Lewin did score today.I don't know if it can be done in January. But a top class forward is badly needed. We are a top 7/top 8 team at best.Where we are in the table, is about right imo.

When the team is doing crap people will use “this is a season of transition” as an excuse.

Bearing in mind that Martinez got 5th in his first season. Koeman got 7th in his first season and Allardyce got 8th despite getting the job on 30 November. Thereby, I think there is absolutely no excuse not to finish 7th the minimum with this possibly the best squad in a decade.

The home matches which see Everton get beaten by West Ham and failure to win against Huddersfield, Newcastle and Watford raise doubt. Of course, it takes time (for breaking the top6) but all we ask for is to be the best of the rest this season. Hopefully, the manager can turn this bad run of form around and do his job when Everton get a EL place next season.

Silva is just Martinez Mk 2. Played some pretty football at previous clubs but was always involved in relegation struggles so, typically, Everton thought 'he's the man for us'

..good job Philip Carter stuck with Howard Kendall when he struggled before the mid-80s turnaround. I’m not suggesting Silva will have the same renaissance but he’s introducing his own style and every manager needs 3 windows to stamp his mark on a club.

I do wonder what Moshiri's ambition is as it certainly doesn't look good when you look over his 3 year tenure.

If he's serious of improving the brand and having us as an elite side in the league how can he justify us being behind a newly promoted side that can beat clubs in the top 6 (whilst we cant) & level on points with tinpot outfits like Watford and Bournemouth 17 games in after spending another £85 million in the summer?

I would say if he intends for BMD to be a success and for him to really leave a legacy as owner he massively needs to look into what makes clubs successful.

Be that reviewing Silva's performance at the seasons end and throwing a pot of gold at a genuine top manager who has a history of trophies OR he backs Silva to the absolute hilt over the next 2 transfer windows and throws in the £150-200 million thats needed to realistically push us on from the pack around us.

I like Silva however his results have been a disgrace so far and an improvement is massively needed.

Of the teams in the top 10 we have only beaten Leicester- embarrassing.

Why are we playing stupid balls around the back with players that aren’t that good with the ball at there feet? It’s suicide why put yourself in trouble all the time. Also we had 3 6 foot over cbs yesterday and they lost most headers it’s kids stuff same as it was in Martinez second season

Just plain daft wanting Silva out already. He has had one window to reshape an ageing imbalanced squad. The progress already is evident. This time next year different matter or if there is a drastic run of results that see us plummet down the league, ridiculous wanting rid so soon!

..Mina has actually looked comfortable in possession up to yesterday.

I think Silva is looking to be brave at the top away grounds. It almost worked at Stamford Bridge and Anfield. It means having players who trust their own ability to get their foot on the ball and keep possession. It’s why Bernard plays and Lookman doesn’t.

If you launch the ball downfield against the best teams, it’ll invariably come straight back. There’ll be a lot of pain introducing a new style and new players who fit the strategy. Time will tell if it works.

What makes folk he'll get things right on the evidence so far?

He doesn't know his defence from his midfield from his *ahem* attack...

Mate, the evidence so far shows that we have recruited really well, it shows that we have a regular (more or less) starting eleven and we don't roll over for teams anymore so that's progress from last season.
We have been unlucky in a few of our games which the manager can't do much about, I do think we are suffering from the lack of a quality CF and it is probably costing us now, but you have to build teams from the back and that is what happened in the summer.
This season was always going to be about transition and no amount of turd polishing will improve some of the back-up we have had to retain from the Koeman and Walsh era, so change is going to be gradual rather than sudden, but I reckon Silva and Brands have got it covered and it's just going to take a little bit of time.

I agree its daft wanting Silva out now... however I am not seeing any progress tbh.

Yes we are creating more chances and pressing more... however its not really that difficult to improve on last seasons shocking performances is it?

As I've said since Newcastle if people compared our performances to those under Moyes, Martinez's first season or even Koemans and we have not improved at all/in some instances have declined.

You have got to give him the full season and Moshiri needs to back him in January to bring in atleast 2 signings however lets not pretend he's managing a side of pub footballers.

Pickford, Keane, Zouma, Digne, Mina, Gana, Gomes, Gylfi, Richarlison, Walcott would all get in any side outside the top 6.

...as I said on the previous page, of the 7 teams above us we have played 6 away from home (City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Wolves). There’s only Spurs who we haven’t visited.

Hopefully they'll show something next weekend against Spurs to break this neverending cycle of not good enough to beat the teams above us / not clever enough to break down the teams below us.....
