I guess that's a concern or at least disagreement on what the club needs would be a concern. But utlimate Silva had to sign up, too, and he knew Marcel was coming in to be his boss, so it works both ways.

I take your point on getting business done early etc but let’s see what happens in the next 48hrs or so. Should we then seek to improve over the next few windows then I’ll take that.

Ok mate. Bought is 2 decent looking players, shifted a pile of rubbish, short window, WC, and the European clubs able to buy from the PL after we close.

Judge when we conclude our business.

The window has still been open for 8 weeks which is how long it has always been, the only thing that is different is it's closing earlier then it usually does tho I take your point that the WC hasn't helped at all

Dowell would absolutely not suffice. He struggled at times in the championship and we can't be heaping pressure on the kid if we have aspirations of top 6 (see one Ross Barkley).

Don't feel sorry for him mate. This was never a 1 window fix, or indeed a one season fix. We have signed some good players at a great age so far, and others we are a linked with are of a similar ilk. Id say the future is bright should we continue on the road of signing exciting players under 25. We just need that cb to make us all feel that bit more comfortable.

If the rumours of 3 at the back are true - and I realise we’ll need 2 CBs to make that work in reality - then I’m not sure we need an out and out spoiler in CM. N’Diaye would be good, cheap backup to Gana and Gylfi as first choice CMs, with Beni, Schneiderlin and Davies as further CM cover. My main concern beyond the horrific lack of CBs is a striker.
