Why?

Leave us having to scrap around for a goalkeeper as well?

Way too vital a position.

Pickford's a superb goalkeeper. Yes, he makes the odd mistake, and he's got improvements to make. He was playing behind one of the poorest defences in the league last season and off the top of my head there's maybe 5 goals of all the ones we shipped that he could have done better with. West Ham game aside he was probably our best performer in most games. Only real bit of consistency.

Correct. Good keepers are very, very hard to find. When you've got one as good as JP you keep him for as long as possible, and only let him go when he's on the wane or another equal or better becomes available.

Because it's stupid money and you could easily replace him for a third of that and be better off

Could we?

Who is a better goalkeeper than Pickford that we could realistically attract, regardless of the money? Please tell me.

While I understand there were other factors in play with the Lukaku situation, we literally did exactly the same with him last year. And you'd be advocating the same again, in a position that is even harder to get right than the striker?

You could literally write up pages of keepers who could do an equal and greater job than him. And it's in noway comparable to the rom situation, top class strikers are in way shorter supply than keepers. Rom was one of the top strikers on the planet and we'd always struggle to replace him

Literally in the last five minutes it's come out about the RS bidding £62m for Allison.

So yeh, the bidding for Pickford wouldn't start at much less, and I doubt we'd be open for selling at much less than £62m.

Allison has a much better pedigree
