Heitinga

Promises to score...

then he scores an own goal...

and then misses a pen...

Nevertheless, he's a defender and a bloody good one at that. And as someone mentioned in the Huddersfield match thread, he doesn't hoof it. He plays a pinpoint long ball. It's one of the qualities of his I noticed first, and it certainly gives him an edge over Jags (waits for abuse). Okay I'd rather have Jags at RCB, but it's nice to know we've got Heitinga as well.

All of this begs the question though, with everyone match fit, where will he play? Distin is, imo, an excellent LCB. Even though I was dying to see a Jags/Heitinga partnership, there's no point in disrupting something that's working right now. And then with Felli, there's no DM slot.

An odd thought, to have a world cup finalist on the bench, isn't it?

He'll be a starter, not only is he a quality player but he's also a 'winner'.

He'll fill in for Fellaini until he's back up to speed and eventually get his chance at centre back.

But do you think Moyes would do it?

Distin: Playing well, height (although I think it's a silly point, Moyes might not), Left footed (yet again I think it's silly, Moyes might not).

Moyes has used two left footers in the eight or so years he's been here, I don't think he thinks it's a must to have one in the team, especially when Heitinga's left foot is probably better than Distin's as it is. Heitinga brings a composure to the back four that's needed at the top level in my opinion.

But that's for the future, Distin is playing well and deserves his place in the side. Heitinga will fill in for Fellaini whilst he's getting up to speed.

Distin's a beast. I can't stop singing his praises.

*cue red card against Villa.

This left-footed/right footed business is a red herring. Our 2 best CBs are Jags & Johnny. No question.

I would be happy with a clean sheet to be honest, regardless of who plays. Distin had a great game at the weekend. I thought Jags and Distin would be Moyes's preferred partnership before the season started and i think it has proven to be.

The signs dont look good for Joey Yobo at all, i wouldnt be surprised to see him leave before Tues to be honest.
