Summer 2018 Transfer Window

He’s a decent squad player he wouldn’t be in our starting team every week, he’s a horses for courses player. Part of the reason I wouldn’t mind him in the squad is he is different from Gueye, Sneiderlin and Klassen who to my eyes are slow pass and move players, they play with triangles progressively taking the safe option. McCarthy, Davies offer tenacity and directness. Ki is a bit difference as he has a longer range of passing, both directly, over the top and spreading the play, but sits in the double pivot.

For me it’s the one area we lack imagination, Ki would be useful in the squad, I’d have him there as backup, I have other ideas as a first choice deep lying playmaker.

He does offer something very different to what we have, infact he would do what Rooney has been trying to in midfield all season but been badly of the pace for much of it.

Its funny you should mention Rooney.

Very similar to Dembele at Spurs.

*snigger*

Is that this season mate or over a few?

Big difference in playing squads to be fair.

I didn’t compare him to Dembelle I said he plays the same position and role, keep up.

If I’m being honest, Ki stats pretty much stack up to Rooneys and probably beyond given he’s played 7 games less and Rooney spent half the season as an advanced player in the front four or part of a midfield three, while Ki is in the double pivot shielding a back four.. 90% pass completion is pretty incredible I’m surprised by that given the passes he tries.

We can do a lot worse than signing Ki for free. We have two, maybe three PL quality central midfielders. Gana and Schneiderlin and the second one was awful for majority of this season. And Rooney... Sign Wilshere (or Meyer...) and Ki as his backup and suddenly our central midfield looks much better. McCarthy is sadly injured for forseeable future, Besic is likely going to be sold to Boro and Klaasen likely has no future here even under a new manager. Davies and Baningime both need a loan. Signing a player like Ki may have some sense for me.

His range of passing is beyond 5 meters, he has a great ability to spread play and long range passing, he does it from deep so his bottom line goals and assists are that of what you’d expect from a good player in the double pivot. In his earLiver days especially at Celtic he played further forward and his attacking stats were better.

Like I say I don’t think he would be the second coming, or necessarily be gaurenteed a first team spot, but would be a definite addition to the squad in area we struggle for a forward thinking progressive player in the double pivot.
Not seen that long passing game in him but then agaim I havent watched him that much. What I've seen is neat and tidy give and go type.

People are suggesting we need squad players. Ie people not good enough to actually get in our team or even the bench. Here is a list of players 20 or over who we have on our books who aren't good enough.

Robles
Stekelenburg
Williams
Funes Mori
Browning
Galloway
Pennington
Martina
Garbutt
Besic
Mccarthy
Bolasie
Klassen
Henen
Tarashaj
Sandro
Niasse
Mathis
Mirallas

And people want squad players???

We need a culling of epic proportions and the names Walsh, Koeman, and Martinez, never to be uttered again.
Are you giving Schneids a reprieve mate?

We all know YouTube clips are gash, but just some examples of his deep lying position and passing for you mate. Like I say a useful tool.

You're not going to convince anyone on here that he is good enough for Everton, he is an ok player - nothing more and nothing less. The idea of a transfer window is to improve your team, we need better than Rooney, Schneiderlin, Davies, Klaassen, Besic and a fit McCarthy. Ki does not stand out amongst that lot.

Double pivot ???????

some of our fan base is happy to sign just for the the sake of signing.

ki? Fellaini ?

What exactly will they contribute to what we are lacking now?

Korean pop culture or bombastic hairstyle?

We need to get a Barkley type midfielder who can make good decision, decisive in passing and able to carry the ball forward. Ki and Fellaini can never do that in a million years.

Kieran Dowell could be that player.
