Booing

I've got no issue with booing at the end of the game, if the result/performance is poor then the majoirty of the time it's justified.

Always thought that booing during the game was counter-productive though. Booing a backwards/misplaced pass might impact a player & lead to a player overthinking a pass or making a mistake when ther're next on the ball, booing a substitution could knock the player coming off/ons confidence etc.

The fans should at least boo properly. The half time booing against West Brom lasted at most one second. As if that's going to get the message across to the board. Boo them off until they're in the tunnel, make the players want to get away from that atmosphere as quickly as possible, and make them want to change their performances so they don't have to be booed any more.

I actually cannot fathom why the fans are putting up with this. At least under Martinez we weren't on the verge of being relegated, yet he was rejected by the fans and more or less forced out of the club.

In his first season we were great, finished 5th. Second two we were mid-table and finished on 47 points. Does anybody think we're getting 19 more points this season? IMO we'll be lucky to get 15. We're the worst team in the league and somehow (loads of penalties) were able to grab some points in December to push us much higher than we deserved to be.

Yet under Allardyce we look MUCH worse than we ever looked under Martinez, yet there are no banners, no real booing, no protests, nothing. Have we just accepted we'll either be relegated or come very close to it?

No doubt boos are in order at Goodison Park.

Fans putting up with what? It's part and parcel of being a supporter. All smiles when results are good, all bleaching when the end product is this awful.

Are you buying the controlling interests of the club? Are you organizing a supporter's trust to buy up the club?
Are you going to stop going to matches? Are you going to stop buying kits?
Fancy some sort of "Fat Sam Out" banner?

If no, keep flapping your wings over in the corner, you'll fly someday.

That's one possible reaction of many.
I can think of many more that are pretty negative.

If you create a situation where players are terrified of making a mistake - this won't result in great performances... it results in crap football. Fear of making a mistake kills creativity (not just in football but in life in general - a famous Evertonian Ken Robinson talks about this a lot in terms of education). In my opinion this is why when our team has been suffering from lack of confidence the ball is going sideways and backwards far more often - we're focused on keeping the ball as opposed to using it.

Well the ball IS going sideways and backwards now, and that's without the plays being booed at all.

Is booing going to stop the one in ten passes that go forward at the moment? I can't see it making out appalling play even worse. We've reached rock bottom, so either they get booed and they continue being just as bad, or it makes them take that chance on a forwards pass and it pays off.

Good players can hack being booed and very good players are motivated to silence the booing.

Look at the stick Gianluigi Donnarumma, an 18 year old keeper, is getting from AC Milan ultras at the moment. Before the match kicks off there are banners unfurled slagging him and his family off and even highly orchestrated protests during an U21 international.

Now compare that to the half hearted groans and booed substitutions our outfield players are supposedly getting. It's completely half-arsed and the overwhelming atmosphere is one of resignation rather than any real toxicity. If a player can't hack that or believes it to be an excuse to go hiding then maybe he's nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.

Was a bit ridiculous on Saturday to be fair. Around me people were moaning at not getting the ball forward and playing sideways and back. Then when they went more direct they moaned when we lost it!

There's a subtle difference between getting the pass forward by making sensible passes and just hoofing it you know.

Thing is mate we were playing West Brom at Home and you can’t score goals passing backwards or sideways, so you can understand the frustration.

I’d rather we lost it attempting to play a forward pass than lose it at the back.
