Tbf he might benefit from playing off a striker like Tosun

But short term we've got Rooney and long term the Ormskirk Ozil so unless he plays deeper he should move asap for the good of his career

Yeah, unfair to move Davy on - would break his confidence, really. I might think a loan to be beneficial, but it really is not easy to tell what will happen

...if there are no plans to use him then it makes no sense to keep him. I wouldn’t use the word ‘unfair’. The player continues to earn a fortune from the move, surely it’s in the clubs interest to replace him with a player they will utilise. Much depends on how much monies can be recouped.

Yep, it's not as easy as saying "just take the hit" as it would impact on what we are allowed to spend elsewhere

Unless some nutter out there wants to buy him for what we paid, it makes most sense to loan him out until we can recoup a fee which covers us from a FFP loss perspective

Edit - I'm still convinced there's a player in there somewhere btw

..there’s a couple of things he’s done in games that indicated he’s decent (first time pass to Rooney when he missed a sitter in a Home EL game and them the assist to DCL when he scored away) but he’s clearly not in this managers plans. £25m seems a standard fee now, so we might be able to recoup a large portion of it if there are clubs wanting him. As you say, though, if there are no takers a loan could be the best we can hope for.

It is up to the player now. He obviously is a good footballer but was totally unprepared for the pace and intensity of the Premiership.

If he is prepared to work hard enough he may well yet have a premiership career but it is down to the hard work that he needs to put in.

Yeah he looked decent against the EL teams but looks like it he might just not have enough at the highest level.

We've got to give him time to acclimatise though, I'd try to find a PL team who'd take him. I'm sure any of the relegation battlers (yeah i know) would take him for the run in.

From a business perspective, just taking the hit is an abysmal decision. We thought so too with Niasse after 6 months, and he cost half of what Davy did - now we're actually making a profit (barring wage expenses of course).

There's a player here with pedigree and certain ability. Not giving him a chance to show it is simply a dumb business move.
