The Best and Worst of the derby!

any of our wins were great but I will never be happy until we win 5-0 at the pit
My memory is not what it used to be but can anyone remember Jimmy Hill saying at the end of match of the day, 'we will leave you with the Everton fans who out sung the Kop today' Maybe 1978

Probably my worst memory as a Blue full stop was the 1986 FA Cup final. We'd been the better side in the first half and totally battered them for the first 12 minutes of the second half until THAT pass from Gary Stevens changed the game completely.

The 1989 cup final defeat was bad enough too, but I reckon we were always fated to lose that day. The McAllister derby still gets on my nerves as it was never a free kick and taken about 10 yards away from where the incident took place and we lost our proud 11 year unbeaten home derby record.

2012 semi final is another bad memory. A very average Liverpool side who were there for the taking, and like 1986, a bad pass changed proceedings. Moyes negative second half tactics also had a lot to answer for.

Better memories are the Ratcliffe/Lineker derby were that win should have propelled us to the title. Ratcliffe's goal is surely the funniest in derby history, and right in front of the gobs***es on the Kop too.

Wayne Clarke's goal in 88 which stopped them breaking Leeds unbeaten run from the start of a season is one which won't be forgotten. They'd been coasting to the title and I'd been getting loads in school off the reds and for once couldn't wait to get into school on the Monday morning to give them a bit back.

Beardsley's late winner in 92 is fondly remembered and who could forget Duncan opening his account a few years later.

Goslings 119th minute goal to knock them out the cup is defo the one I remember the most in an era were our record against them has been extremely poor, despite them hardly being vintage Liverpool sides.

Funny when Gerrard had run the length of the Bullens to celebrate Suarez's goal that was wrongly judged offside. Funny that we won the first Derby at Wembley when Grobelaar was given the go & there were 100,000 there for a Charity Shield, funny when Rats rolled one in off his shin.

That's me done on the funny side. Clattenburg deciding that it was advisable to take advice from an opposition player to change yellow to red; Clattenburg to think a two footed lunge three feet off the floor is a fair attempt to win the ball, Clattenburg to think wrestling a player to the floor inside the box is play on. Distin deciding to under hit a back pass when we were on top, Rodwell seeing red for winning the ball, Hansen having hands like spades on the goalline, McCallisrer moving the ball a postcode from the foul, full time being blown after their Keeper tried to be clever by hitting a free kick straight at Hutchison only for it to end up in his net...but full time? Fowler doing a Cameroonian dance with his nostril, Andy Carrol & Danny zings being prolific against us. The only away ground where the capacity increases but the away allocation reduces. Check out number of penalties awarded in this fixture to each side....looks like a cricket score.

unfortunately didnt see the Jimmy Hill comment , but I was at the 1978 home and away games , could be true as we won at home 1-0 King ! , and drew the away 1-1 game King ! scoring the equaliser , but the 1978 away game was mid week so not sure if was on Match Of The Day ?
Maybe it was the 1979 game - which was 2-2 we equalised twice Kidd and King scored , it was a war on the pitch and highly charged on the terraces great match , electric atmosphere , also just to stoke it up some more Stanley and Mc Dermott were sent of with a mass brawl ensuing

The worst performance I've seen was the second 4-0 under Martinez. Although I'm not confident that'll remain the case by 4pm Sunday.
