“Fans” that won’t support us if we get Allardyce

I’ll go back to the point that I’m not forcing anyone to stop supporting Everton. But if someone says they won’t support Everton anymore then they shouldn’t be offended when someone “accuses” them of not supporting Everton anymore.
And I'll take you back to the point you agreed with about supporting Everton and going to the game are two different things completely. I may decide to boycott the matches whilst Allardyce is in charge, but that doesn't mean that I still don't want us to win every game.

Sometimes, the club do things that annoy me so much I wish I could just walk away like some plastic supporter, but I can't. Everton are almost like a religion to me, like they are to most of us. A religion that has delivered far more pain than joy over the years if I'm honest.

At the moment, part of me is thinking that, once Allardyce is appointed, supporters like you, who believe it's acceptable to take the moral high ground and judge other fans, will deserve everything that comes your way. But I know that feeling won't last long as Allardyce failing will probably mean Everton getting relegated, and that will break my heart. I can only hope that the man doesn't stay long enough to do too much lasting damage.

The Kone having been allegedly promised a new contract rumour was never really confirmed or denied. It would make sense, as he seemed to literally, overnight, lose form to such a degree he looked like he was going through the motions. It wouldn't surprise me if there a breakdown of communications between the manager and the board. But, it's just a rumour, none of it was really confirmed. Can't really blame Sam for that, as we don't know if there's any truth in it. What we do know, is when Sam left, Kone's form was horrifically shocking. Whether he was sulking, or just didn't want to play under Moyes - I don't know.

Yep, Kaboul decided to jump ship to Watford for 'personal' reasons. I think Sam rated him highly, he had a great partnership with Kone, so I'm sure Sam would have persuaded him to stay, but he wanted away, again, not much could have done If a player just want's away.

Allardyce so the rumours go anyway - and they have been around at enough different clubs to give them some substance, promises a hell of a lot to agents and players that never materialise, only by that time he has gone from the club so it's left for the club to sort the mess of unhappy players with mate.

the thing with Allardyce - and why not it has served him well, he brings people in for the here and now regardless of the longer term consequences - as he knows longer term it's someone else's problem mate, he gains credit others receive the blame.

The players loved big Sam. They really bought into his style and man-management. Players like Borini, suddenly decided to track back and fight for us (He was previously lazy & looked like he didn't have the passion in him for a relegation battle) Our entire team was well drilled, when we pressed, we pressed as a team and everyone was on the same page.

No, not too many issues with that mate. Obviously, I'm sure internally there were some players banging on Moyes door to see where they stand etc - but nothing major was leaked. Some of the players big Sam bought suddenly lost their passion & desire, Moyes couldn't motivate them like Sam.

I can only speak from a personal viewpoint and say Sam come in, improved morale, got 11 players prepared to fight tooth and nail for the points, improved our shape, got the crowd back and ultimately kept us up - Fact. When he left, everything he had worked so hard to bring in fell apart, hence going down. There's no way we'd go down under Sam.

If he can bring all of the above mentioned qualities to Everton, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.
So much sense to your post that I doubt some on the forum would want to believe it

Saw most games in the Royle era, and saw a lot of us pumping it forward long to Big Dunc and Rideout. But then selective memory is easy.Joe is also a heavy lad,but never referred to as Fat Joe...maybe he gets a pass because he's "one of us".His record as a manager was about as stellar as Sam's before he was appointed, but again as an ex-player you can get away with a lot.

We where 4th top scorer in the 95/96 season under Royle mate with 64 scored.

Some of the best attacking footy i ever saw in some games during that season, including the 5-2 away at Sheff Weds, the Kancheslskis derby and ripping arsenal apart at their place.

We where definitely not route 1 by any stretch

As a put down mate - it's a bit silly, he reached as many European finals as we have as a club in our history and won two cups we as a club have never managed to win and two more than we have managed as a club since our last one in 95'.

Thats without counting the Celtic stuff which obviously is of little significance in reality.

Slate O'Neill by all means - i can't stand him, but he's done more than Allardyce ever has or will as a manager

So if you discount Celtic as in your words - "as it's of little signifiance", Martin O'Neill has won;

Managerial
Wycombe Wanderers

  • Football League Third Division play-offs: 1993–94
  • Football Conference: 1992–93
  • FA Trophy: 1990–91, 1992–93
  • Conference League Cup: 1991–92
  • Football Conference Shield: 1991–92, 1992–93, 1993–94
Leicester City

  • Football League First Division play-offs: 1995–96
  • Football League Cup: 1996–97, 1999–2000

There's a lot to beat Sam Allardyce with, but advocating Martin O'Neill as a better option because he's "won more" is bonkers when what he's won as a manager is 2 league cups - one 17 years ago.

That was one season,Fat Sam got Bolton into Europe.Every manager has one. After watching this group I'm only concerned with EFC being a Premier League side next season. After his recent work at Palace,Sunderland and WHU Sam looks the man for the job.Time will tell.

Fans who won't support the Blues with or without any given manager name can take a long hike...
In Sam we trust, in Pulis we believe, for Everton we live...
