David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

Players have made sure he will not get the job by being cowards, first half against Leicester was a mistake, but he has had a bit of improved performance up to a point off them only for it to go tits up as soon as we go behind.

Mate, he has put out bizarre teams in every game he has managed.

Vlasic was the only shining light this season, and he threw him out of the squad. Making only a cameo last night.

He is never a top level manager.

Tbf he picks the team from an outsider view God knows what last nights line up was ... A total car crash

Don't think it will matter even if we win on Sunday he will not be Everton manager in the long run.
He isn't alone in picking bizarre team we never play the same one twice, which really doesn't help them settle

Spot on. The team he put out last night was a disgrace and disrespectful to the 5,000+ supporters who forked out £100's pounds to travel over for the game.

This is a man who came out last week talking the talk about being Everton and expecting to win every game. I'm sorry but the team/squad selection last night was not set up to win any game of football.

I understand the squad is in an absolute state as a result of poor management from Koeman, but there were no excuses for failing to play a CF last night. Also no requirement to start with three DM players.

I was all for giving Unsworth a chance but he's done nothing to suggest he's ready for the job full time.

Never mind. Watford on Sunday we'll see Pickford up front in a number 10 role. A christmas tree formation mixture of 9 defenders and untried under 12's and Joe Royle keeping the goal.

I feel after 14 days Unsy even if we win on Sunday is out of the running now - he talked about winning and we have had defeats { nothing less than if koeman had stayed on imo}
Its just his tactics have only seen flashes of slight improvement , and as he stated its a results business, its a shame it was a big step up for him with a dreadful squad left to him - there are more - than +s for his spell - its worrying who ever comes in it will be very hard!

It's got to be done very early in the window for maximum training time with this squad.

By the end of the month imo. A month to access what we've got, then a month to make the changes the new manager wants.

:coffee: good call :coffee:

My definition of Ok is not losing 2-0 plus a sending off.

Tbf, until he put on a proper CF and went more offensive we were doing ok, and if Gueye had scored we'd have been winning, so...

Odd selection for sure. But you have to wonder how different the game may have gone if Gueye had netted that chance just after halftime. If's and but's, I suppose. We were defo second best today by any measure.

Looked at times like the team selection & tactics might have paid off tonight, though as usual yet another daft goal conceded killed us off.

Feel a bit sorry for him if I'm being completely honest. He may be out of his depth but this must be killing him right now.

These really ^^

He really was played a suicide ball with these fixtures and this squad, but he should’ve put way more focus on shoring us up.

Aside from playing 3 CDMs??

I questioned his team selection at the start, but now I think it kind of worked. There were times when I thought that we would have been better off with DCL up front, but then when he did come on we conceeded the three goals (not through any fault of his). Like a couple above have said, if Gueye had scored everything might have turned out differently, and many ppl would be eating their words.

He's making a bit of a fool of himself. Granted, he likes his under 23's but to bring so many in is a risk and also to drop so many senior pro's for his 'kids' makes him look a little foolish.
No doubt in my mind that he dropped Vlasic because he was pissed off that some of his 'kids' were overlooked when Koeman played him.
Very dangerous game throwing so may youngsters into a struggling team, could ruin them.
He would have been better playing it safe for these few games but he's taken too many unnecessary risks with kids and players who weren't even in the frame before, Lennon/McCarthy???
He's ruined his chance and is no way a first team manager

.

A decision that caused us to, er, lose.

If Gueye had scored lol he's one of the worst finishers in the squad. If one of Pickford's goalkicks had been caught by a freak gust of wind etc etc etc

Yeah he's got no chance now Joey, last night was his last chance to stake a claim and he failed spectacularly with that team selection.

Shame, was really hopeful he would have the side looking a lot more hungry and apart from a 2nd half spell against Chelsea, we'e looked absolutely woeful. He was screaming at the players to press last night and Gueye and Morgan were just strolling to the ball without a care in the world.

Chris Coleman for me. Can't believe Allardyce will be offered it, don't want Dyke. It really is a poisoned challis. Played ok last night but I don't understand the Lennon thing, don't rate him. Why doesn't he just give Sandro the Centre Forward position thats what he's here for to score goals give him the chance to prove his worth.
