Everton are small time...

He's saying all the right things, using all the usual buzzwords about history, big club etc, but there's something that bothers me about it. It's bordering on a scripted theatrical performance

This bothered me no end. I honestly thought "we've got a company man in". A patsy, if you will. I haven't even read the rest of what you said yet, which I'm about to do, but my blood runs cold at the thought of a fella that will tow the party line. I want belief and attitude and charisma and 'kin wins. I don't want Bill's whipping boy.

What is ‘getting us’?
We are no different than any other football team
Some fans like to think we are, but we’re not
Exactly
We are living in the past and thinking ourselves something we are not
It’s like the British empire
It existed and was world wide in its day
Now it’s Gibraltar and the Falklands
To most other fans and clubs we are a mid table club who have done nothing to show we are a big club

A bit like Moyes who in fairness was a decent manager for us.
Unsworth is more or less saying give me the job and I won’t rattle cages and call Kenwright out over transfers like Koeman did
I’ll use the kids even if they are not good enough and say we are promoting youth and looking after our own.
We need a ruthless Bar steward with no connection to the club who will gut the squad and get in players who will give 100%
They may look on us as a stepping stone but if we succeed they may stay.
The day of a clubman staying his whole career with one club are over.
We only have to look at 2 players in our own squad to see that

We need a decent manager who will get results.

We tried what you want 16 months ago.

And it worked for the first season
The lack of a CF and a CB messed that up this season
Would Koeman have bought 4 No 10s if he thought it meant he didn’t get a CF and a CB , I doubt it.
But still he must take his share of the blame but Kenwright is to my mind the main culprit to blame for the mess this once great club is in

Dunno. Like most, I was encouraged by the early days of the window, then bit bemused by the 6 week pursuit of Gylfi, but if that was Bill, Walsh, Moshiri or Koeman, not a scoobie mate.

And if anyone on this forum had managed the side last night we’d have lost as well
But we are all blues at heart and we get the club so it doesn’t really matter
I’ve a massive pain in my testicles with plucky defeats and great second half performances
I was brought up on great victories and 90 mins of blood sweat and tears with a lot of talented players and I want that back for however long I’ve got on this earth.
Yes but our squad is what it is that's why the manager got sacked any club like ours cannot afford to off load the top striker and squander the fund - Moshri hopefully will get us a new ground, but our priority as a major club is to stay in the Prem -any manager till January has a very hard task in hand the problems are there to see we have to consolidate to become a big club again - Unsworth let's see how he copes if the board want another outsider then so be it!
Our playing personnel ATM is very average with all those funds spent !

INTERESTING FACT the following teams have all won a major trophy since Everton last managed it in 1995: Leicester(3), Portsmouth, Wigan, a villa, Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Swansea. The following teams have all reached a major cup final compared to Everton's solitary appearance (2009) since 1995: Middlesbrough(4), a villa(4), Leicester(3), Portsmouth(2), Wigan(2), Cardiff(2), Newcastle(2), birmingham(2), Southampton(2), c palace, Hull c, stoke c, millwall, Blackburn, Swansea, Leeds, Bolton, bradford city, Sunderland, Tranmere.
Tranmere have won bugger all since 1989-90.

The problem is that someone who has a fairly major say in what goes on at the club is, and that should play no part in the decisions that are being made. We've got players that aren't fit to play for us on massive wages (Rooney), because someone is sentimental, we've previously dished out contract extensions to players that don't deserve them, because someone is sentimental. It's just not the way the club should be run if we want to compete at the right end of the table.
Good points

Furthermore, shouldn't sentiment be a two way street? I remember Joseba Etxeberria at Athletic Bilbao (signed as a hot youth prospect from biggest rivals Real Sociedad) After 15 years at the club he offered to play free for a final year at the club.

Don't see any of these 'great servants' at Everton doing anything but milk the club for all they can.

“Sissoko is a great player. But when I bought into Everton, I made it clear I was proud to join a family. And we don’t turn our backs on our own. James McCarthy is part of the Everton family” - Farhad Moshiri
Stinks of sentimental Kenwright era Everton.

You are unbelievably insightful, bordering on the physic! The man has only given one pre match interview and one post match interview and you have in Bill Kenwrights pocket.
What I saw last night with his team was man who wasn't scared to make big decisions and go with his beliefs. I don't know if it will work out but I wish him well.
