Ronald Koeman discussion

Everton boss Ronald Koeman: "Of course, in this situation that the team is, you need a little bit of luck.

"The first 30 minutes we dominated and the second half, more difficult. It was really difficult to bring them down and they got the goal.

"I'm proud of the players for what we showed after that. We had the belief to get at least one point, and maybe we deserved another two.

"The first goal was defensively sloppy. You need to stay on your feet. You can't go down easily.

"We lost a little bit of control after one or two mistakes in our ball possession. One way to come out of this difficult situation is working hard. To show the belief and commitment of the players.

"In football, maybe it's only one point but it is a different picture. We at least deserve one point."

I'd agree with him with regard to deserving a point. But come on this is Brighton we are talking about. We were the equal of Brighton today, one of the favourites for and likely to be one of the relegated teams. It shows how far we have dropped our standards from last season.

As much as I want him to turn it around there is an air of inevitability to all of this ,in all of the 15 or so games we have played we haven't had a good half never mind a 90min and there's no signs of any improvement. The club will want to do the perceived honourable thing and give him time but that could mean out of both cup competitions and possibly in the bottom three

To be honest (putting annoyance aside) I don't really know what I want him to say anymore after performances like todays. If he's honest about how crap we've been in games then it hasn't had the desired effect on the players in the next game etc etc. If he says stuff like he has today then we (the fans) think he's deluded. Haven't got the answer to it other than to say, its his team, its his set up, and its performing very badly I'm afraid. And as a long term supporter of this great club its hurting my eyes (and my heart).
