Computer games.

My first game of the career season.

Everton 0 Stoke 0

(Yes I realise I’m worse than Koeman)
Just shoot more ijjy!

I'm enjoying it in some ways but not in others. Played a lot today and yet to have a game under 8 goals in a game.

Feel overall it's just gone 110% turbo arcade

Genuinely, just let the game come to you. Goals come from good build-up play and precise counter attacks. Utilise one-twos (L1-X) and if you find yourself in trouble, use R1 and X to make another player come short to you too. Passing and crossing works off the players balance/footwork it seems so if he's off balance or on the back foot, take another touch and work a better pass. Same with shooting, only shoot if he's decently balanced, not so much when leaning back.

The pace aspect really isn't as bad as in recent years but if you get a good opportunity to break, especially after defending a lot, smash a decently powered through ball to a winger (Ha, get on this Koeman) and just get your head down and run.

Put plenty of shots on target. But don't just shoot from anywhere. Like last year, shots across the keeper and defenders are way overpowered but not as bad as some of the gear being pulled out last year. You score tonnes off rebounds.

Soz if this is properly pat on the head/Evening Toffees but just thought I'd chime in.

And Yes, I'm such a FIFA Nerd/Virgin/Millenial (Delete as appropriate).

What difficulty do you play on?

And don’t lie!

Computer is now back in the shop sadly. Managed to fix the visual issue with a dvi cable (wbich apparently my smart tv has a channel for?!) Which was fantastic. So in full hd and signal I got to see a nice blue screen saying recovery that I couldn't get out of ffs.

Hopefully get it back tomorrow, still haven't played rocket league yet

Original Rollcage

Agree with Rollcage; underrated game that.

Yeah, "crunchy" and "battling" are fitting ways of putting it.

I still play Rollcage 1 now, on hardest-level...the 'battles' are so visceral and epic. One small mistake and you won't win unless you get lucky with weapons (of course, you must deactivate the 'catch-up' option). The Ai of the other racers is still excellent 20 years later, really unpredictable. Easily up there in my top 10 games of all time.

I've got GRIP - the new Rollcage-esque work-in-progress from some members of the old Psygnosis development team - and it's getting there...not quite the same lovely chaos yet, but they're still developing.

Rollcage 1 & 2 for the PC, very faithful ports of the PS1 versions, are available as quasi-freeware/abandon-ware as the rights issue is so convoluted no one's really sure who has them.

I was going to mention this - I loved the original Rollcage games, so really hoping this turns out to be good. Might have to check out the freeware versions :)

The gold standard for older F1 games was GP4

I preferred Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix and still hold that as a bit of a masterpiece, even today.

Loved GP1 or 2. Used to go to my cousins for the weekend and we'd do the whole event, practise, old school quali and race, hot seat style. Don't know if I have the patience/skill to play a proper 'sim' nowadays - think Grid is about my level!

Wtf have they done to Fifa 18?

You can score from literally anywhere, with almost every shot. Goalkeepers are non existent, passing is inch perfect every single time, dribbling is over the top.

Every game ends 8+ goals.

Cheers mate.

Had this sneaky feeling that FIFA would be a downgrade on last years. Had some great fun and decent games with the AI last year. The replay value was pretty high and had me playing for a solid 6 months. Just reading your post here has made up my mind to swerve it.

To be honest I was cringing at the thought of Alex Hunter suddenly being one of the worlds best. It was only last year he was booted out to the championship.

Can't get into it. I think its the cartoon feel about the game.

Just my opinion but it hasn't got a cat in hells chance with PUBG being such a fantastic game.
Tbf mate the battle royale is just a side ting on the whole game.

Fortnite is about tower defence and crafting/looting/ building as a team to defend against waves of zombies.

Ultimately the whole thing will be free to plqy next year.

I don't mean to put anybody off, like. Ijjy for example is having a somewhat different experience to myself by all accounts.

In the next couple days I'll post a proper personal review for you once I've logged a little more game time and tried some higher difficulty settings - if this will aid your decision in any way.
