All you're doing is pointless speculation there mate.

Well most if not all speculations are pointless as no one really knows what is going to happen in the future, but for me it's fun and that is all I reall care for.
Me speculating about Marchena and Yobo and the money is as pointless as me speculating about how great our team will be next season with a healthy Fellaini and Yakubu, and Arteta and Beckford and Bily with some rest, it's all pointless but it's fun :D

The rumour stems from the NOTW.

So it's 'most definately bullsh*t

Played for Benfica at the beggining of his career.

Very promising at the time. He was a tough tackler with very good positioning.

However, he was never blessed with pace and got exposed in the counter once in a while.

He was good in the air, although not a very tall center back, from what I remember.

Don't know if he has the necessary attributes to play Everton, especially having Jags by his side.

Yobo is a much better defender than Marchena
And I thought "Yobo is 10 times defender that Distin is" was funny, but this one even better.

And Winci please, no Daily Mail, no Goal.com (even if their non-rumours part of the site is very good), no Tribalfootball.com, etc... They even don't have rumours - they have a fantasies of drunk quasi-journalists.

This was in two different papers yeasterday - not that, that makes a difference or anything just to mention goal.com pinched it.

I like centre halfs by the way and i think we need one.

But we don't need CBs who would like to be a starters, CBs is a position where rotation actually is no good - 2 starters, 3rd one a solid player, who won't complaing sitting on the bench, and 4th one a younger player, who can step in (so no Duffy yet) when necessary. In my opinion it's the perfect combination. Marchena or Yobo won't accept being a 3rd one (plus their wages expectations woudn't accept it), hopefully Distin would be okay with it.

You say that but i have vivid memerios of Tony Hibbert at centre back. I dont see the point of having less quality ollayers in the squad, if they sign a contract its up to them to get into the team.

A bit harsh on the man, at least he threw out a link. Half the players mentioned in threads weren't even that, rather random "this guy played well tonight, I'd have him" type deals.

I get it, these sources are unreliable, often downright laughable. But why the backlash? He was just throwin' it out there.

And, considering THREE of our CB's have either been linked away or been involved in some "controversial discussions", is it really so outrageous to think the club may just be working behind the scenes on contingencies? For starters, if Marchena were to be falsely linked, WHY EVERTON in particular? I get that some of your rags have a consistent pattern of linking players TO their "big 4" favorites. So the goings out nonsense may be more likely to be completely baseless. I get that.

But if the premise is the anti-everton bias, then what's the rationale behind the *quality player TO everton"??

And, imo, marchena is a quality defender. If that 3 mil price truly is the number needed, AND (disclaimer-this is if & ONLY IF) 1 of Jags/Heit WANTED to leave (for 10-20mil+ for either) then guess what?? I'd consider it nowhere near the worst business in the history of club football. Lynch me if you like, but Marchena's good, nobody wants a player who doesn't want to be here, & business is business.

We get linked with enough players from what is considered reliable sources and 85% of them are utter tosh. Therefore we could do without the jarg rumours, like this one lid, he won't sign and we all know it.

Fair enough, chico.

Just seems like there's a bit of the bad testiness bug running around (hollers "come back, LCAB, sorting it nowz).
