The London Stadium was NOT purpose built for Togger.
BMD will be.
Correct because the the fans were essentially lied to. I am sure they were told there would be sliding rail seating in the first tier which would give them good proximity to the pitch but they could not achieve it and ended up with a load of scaffolding.
Now don't get be wrong I don't think for one second this will be as bad as the London stadium but it is disappointing. We have a good location and I thought we had a blank sheet of paper with a solid budget to build our optimal football stadium. it is now become clear as to how we got the financing arrangement that we did.
I await with eagerness to see the video presentation showing how this will work. What we know is that the installation and removal will all take place in the summer so there will not be significant building work. It is hard to see how they can get the end stands close to the pitch unless there is going to be some ground breaking techology with movable stands which seem very unlikely considering our budget.
It is clear that the capacity will be heavily reduced in athletics mode which explains why Anfield will host the opening ceromonynbut we are struggling to get the maths to add up in terms of how it is possible to maintain rake and close proximity whilst having an acceptable capacity (25k min) for the CWG.
I am interested to know what will happen now if we don't get the CWG. Will the whole deal collapse? Will the design change or is the idea that we would still be looking to be able to accomodate athletics as some point. The Liverpool bid certainly feels like it will be the sexier bid so I suspect will win.
A successful bid would certainly work out well for the RS who get the prestige of the opening ceromony and benefits of improved infrastructure whilst getting to see their rivals heads fall off.
Hate to say it but I am with Davek on this. We need to see the designs ASAP.
