Nedum Onuoha

We will have the money to sign him, even before sales. We've thought we had no money the past 2 seasons but we were bidding for Aaron Ramsey and Kyle Naughton, both around £5m each.

Ok this is really weird..

Me and my brother were only buzzing off the "Lap of Onuoha" thing they have on Soccer AM just this morning.

Omen much??

A right back?

Don't need one.

1) Hibbert
2) Neville
3) Coleman
4) Heitinga

Who in their right mind thinks it's a good idea for us to blow that kind of quid on the ONE position that Everton doesn't need cover?

Next.

To be fair Moyes did try and sign Kyle Naughton last season when he had Neville and Hibbert available to him. We ended up with Heitinga who's ended up much better in central positions and struggled when he played right back. Coleman, by the looks of it, is behind dumb and dumber at this moment in time.

And Onuoha is versatile, he can play at both centre back and right back. Moyes loves these types of players.

Long term replacement for Distin?

Joseph Yobo to move on and maybe senderos not being signed up would leave some room for another versatile defender. And lets face it, our defending hasnt been what we have come to expect in recent seasons, so regardless of numbers maybe moyes feels Onuoha can tighten us up.

The more i think of this the more i like it, if you think Turner was 6 + mill and Smalling just went for 10 mill, 3.7mill for Onuhoa is a bargain if true of course.

I don't disagree with any of your above assessment but it still doesn't change the fact that it would be a complete and utter waste of money to buy a player for RB or RB/CB with Jags, Joey, Distin, Heitinga, & Senderos available as well.

Now...if someone wants to pay up for a backup to Baines, that makes some sense. But in our financial position, we need to be looking at the positions that need some real strengthening.

That would be another creative midfielder and a striker.

I like it. I think at least 1 CB will leave (Yobo, Distin??). Plus factor in the unlikely yet stated nonetheless, "bigfish" contingency involving Jags to Manure. I'd say securing a versatile, talented, & very young RB/CB at a fairly bargain rate is just plain good business.

One thing to keep in mind, while it's great to speak of keeping players together forever, there's a flip side to that coin imo. Players may become unsettled, complacent, or just plain need some shaking up. The art is in finding the perfect balance of the two. And davey strikes me as someone who's playing chess in this regards as opposed to other clubs' chinese checkers.

I don't disagree that, on paper, this may not be the most urgent need. But sometimes, as in all business, a sound opportunity can trump the best ideal yet unrealized concept. Good business tends to play out exactly as its name implies. Good. Business.

The sum total of many net positives over a give time period typically yields....positive!

Everton and Sunderland are leading the chase to land Nedum Onuoha, skysports.com understands.

The Manchester City
spacer.gif
starlet is a product of their famed youth academy, but he now looks as if he could be on his way out.

Like fellow graduates Micah Richards

and Stephen Ireland,
spacer.gif
Onuoha
spacer.gif
wants regular first-team football and is ready to move to get that.

The 23-year-old former England Under-21 skipper is in high demand, having shown his Premier League credentials with City - playing in nearly 100 games for the club.

Now Onuoha, who is equally adept at right-back and centre-half, is being chased by a host of Premier League clubs.
However, it is understood that Everton

and Sunderland are the two heading the chase.
Both David Moyes

and Steve Bruce

are understood to rate Onuoha very highly and both want his signature.

I like him a lot hes a ball playing centre half who can play at right back, he had a stormer of a game for City against Brum last season scoring twice, hes a talented lad.

Huge potential.
