Usmanov

There are two clear schools of thought from ITK’s about Usmanov. The first is that Usmanov is using Moshiri as a proxy and will be on board soon, if he’s not pulling the string already (more WRD)

The second (more associated with the Esk) is that Usmanov has no connection, will not come on board and is fully committed to Arsenal.

Both positions have good evidence to back them up. Likewise both can use any multitude of events to point too in order to justify such a position. The latest episode of Usmanov dominant position would be he wants to buy Arsenal. A alternative position that he is doing it as a last attempt to pave the way to leave is not without credence though.

My position has always been somewhere in between. I think Usmanov is weighing up his options. If Arsenal were to become available I am convinced he would go down that route. Yet if we make progress on and off the pitch and that option isn’t available to him then the chance to come on board further down the line may be something that interests him.

One thing I think we will want is a clear outlook on what Moshiri is looking to do in lieu of Usmanov. I strongly suspect we will have Spurs level funding and try to do things the Spurs way. Gradual building, looking for value, buying younger players, bringing through lads from the academy, having a coach that can develop young players. It’s not the glamour that would come with Usmanov at the helm, but is a long way ahead of where we were under Kenwright.
Your theory fits the evidence well. I think it likely that Usmanov will buy Arsenal if he can. Hope he'll come to us sooner rather than later if he can't.
I'm coming to accept that we're very likely following the Spurs investment model of development in lieu of significant net spending.
It could work and it's far far better than where we would have been but I still resent the deceptive 'huge transfer war chest' marketing that got my hopes up.

Misunderstood the post and made a silly joke. Apologies mate :hayee:
I understood how you could misunderstand the post; at first sight, it did appear to confer a gender ambiguity. But on going a page or so backward, I saw Stalin being introduced into the conversation and a woman (the Yank wife) saying 'he was from Georgia' made sense/removed ambiguity.

Finally, (and as an aside), I guess if Stalin ever went home to his birthplace, and if he left on a train departing Moscow at 12am, you might say 'he's leaving on a midnight train to Georgia'

...I'll just grab me coat...

My own silly fault for not reading back far enough. I'd say this will teach me a lesson about being a tit, but it probably won't.

I'll grab mine too, we can share a taxi...

Not sure if it's been posted before but an interesting perspective from an arsenal blog. I feel it has a good degree of credence

Some interesting bits for those who wont or havent read it. I didnt realise the bit in bold.

His former partner in RED and WHITE SECURITIES LTD, Farhad Moshiri, now has a 49.9% stake in Everton, and when we ran a story last August saying the Uzbek was willing to sell his Arsenal shares to go there, it prompted denials but that was a story based on good information and it’s one we stand by.

He knows that he’s never going to have any influence at Arsenal.

If another person or group comes along that the American is more willing to do business with then that would open the door for Usmanov to sell his shares and go to Everton. If a bid is made for Kroenke’s shares, they legally have to make the same offer for Usmanov’s, so he makes his profit, heads to Goodison Park – or soon to be a new stadium – pitches up with his former business partner, and all of a sudden he has power, influence and the ability to pump a lot of money into that football club.

Looks like our much wished for oligarch overlord has gone all gansta recently by posting a youtube vid in which he disses his rival.

"Russian tycoon Alisher Usmanov and opposition leader Aleksei Navalny have exchanged bitter, strongly worded video attacks as they rejected a Moscow court's proposed settlement in a defamation case.

Hours before a scheduled preliminary hearing in the case on May 17, Usmanov released a video on YouTube calling Navalny a "loser" and a "failed businessman."

Speaking in a manner that for some viewers evoked the jargon of Russian crime bosses, he addressed Navalny by the familiar form of 'you' and by the nickname Lyosha -- short for Aleksei.

"Your attempts to slander me are like a puppy's barking at an elephant," said Usmanov, who pointed to Navalny's two politically charged financial-crimes convictions and called him a criminal.

He urged Navalny to apologize and made a sound suggesting he was spitting on Navalny."

This whole offer to buy is to publicly show what is going on at Arsenal, he will then offer an ultimatum to Kroenke.

1. Sell to me.
2. Buy me out.
3. Let me sell to who I want.

Usmanov will then sell up and buy our remaining 50.1%. In the next 12-18 months.

Prediction by the way.
On the money. My exact thoughts !

This is the problem when people manufacture themselves as ITK's. They use words and phrases like 'what I've been told' or 'my understanding is' and then just give you whatever their opinion is, in language that is absolute and definitive. Even when it turns out to be a load of cobblers, the arrogance will not give way and they merely adjust their position while suggesting that things are happening in the background. It is all complete tosh. Mind you, there have been loads on here taken in.....

I find it amusing that there are people who think it is even possible for them to have an idea on what someone like Usmanov is going to do, or even a source passing on info who they think they can trust. People with the kind of money Usmanov has dont surround themselves with blabbermouths, its far to risky

Arsene Wenger is holding Arsenal back! Alisher Usmanov sticks the boot in after defeat by Manchester United

‘I like Arsene for his principles. But principles are sort of restriction. And restrictions are always lost possibilities,’ he added.

‘That's why sometimes coaches even without principles became the coaches of great teams. And some coaches with principles lose because some positions in the team are vacant because of ethical, moral or personal views.

‘Does he have money or not? There is officially money in the club. How does he spend - this decision investors have left with him.’

Wenger has overseen Arsenal's worst start to a season for 32 years and, as supporters continue to vent their fury at a lack of progress, talk has again resurfaced as to whether the time is right to cut ties with their esteemed manager.

Usmanov said: 'As to Arsene Wenger - he is one of the greatest coaches not just of European, but of world football. But we have Russian proverb which goes – "Even an old lady can have a roof falling on her".

'Everybody makes mistakes. He can make mistakes and I know as you age that it is more difficult, more challenging to accept one's mistakes. Maybe it's a problem today.

'He is a great man, a great coach, he had great victories and he has to have an opportunity to secure the place, which he and his team ought to have.

'I think the men who created winners have to be winners themselves.'

If we knew the mind of Usmanov we'd bein his inner circle or billionaires ourselves. I totally agree that there are no ITKs when it comes to Usmanov or Moshiri. The only thing I'm certain about is that Usmanov has an angle to profit from any outcome of his actions over the offer to Kroenke.

Having said that I do enjoy the speculation and analysis of a super wealthy individual and his behaviour like it was a trashy 80s novel.

A plea to all the travelling blues today as we are playing usmanovs current involvement, everyone go as ken Dodd complete with tickling sticks and sing his song with slightly amended lyrics,"Come and join us,come and join us,we are the toffeemen",if that doesn't sway him I don't know what will;)lol
