CL playoff - thoughts re: Everton

Not a ball call that. Could transform the FA Cup also.

It would transform the FA Cup and make it what it once was. People would argue and say it is harder to finish 4th but if you finish 4th you can still afford to drop points, in the FA Cup you can not lose!

..I agree. Only point is the FA Cup winners usually finish top 4 anyway. I think it would dilute it if you then allowed the FA Cup runners up to qualify. Interesting concept though.

In the world of European Football where things are entirely set up for the rich to get richer, I am all for the idea of a playoff. 4-7 competing for a CL spot would bring more parity to the conversation.

We've played in a grand total of 10 Champions League games as a club (yes, yes...it should have been more), so I'm all for a bit of parity.

More games to watch...more excitement. What's not to like?

And if you finish 1st to 3rd, 4th plays the FA Cup runner-up. If the runner up finished 1st-3rd, 4th gets the place.

It's a solid idea.

There's quite enough games already. Teams in 2nd, 3rd & 4th should be nowhere near the CL anyway.

I honestly don't know how an Everton fan can be against a playoff. It would only increase our chances of getting in.

The RS should forfeit their champions league place to Everton indefinitely for robbing us of the genuine opportunity to win the actual European Cup on a number of occasions. No need for a play off like

What happens when Chelsea Etc win the fa cup? The losing finalists get the place?
